Where to start.....

This my Nightforce scope on my .20Tact rifle... MOA Xmas tree reticle.
Well no matter which type you go with..Mil-Dot or MOA...
You need to know if is a First Focal Plane or Second Focal Plane!!!

The Majority of the scope are 2nd FP variety. This where the Reticle wil stay the same size if you zoom in or out.. Here you need to know at what Magnification is your reticle is Ranged At!!
Most has the mag. number on the zoom dial colored differently..
So At this magnification, the distance between hash marks are correct..
i.e. in a MOA usuall it is 1 inch between hash marks @100 yards

In contrast, the 1st.FP scopes reticle will change sizes as you soom in or out!!!
Mostly the more expensive scopes had this option!!
So distance measurment are not dependant on the magnification!!!

Good Hunting,
Stuart

Here is the ret I use on my ATN Mars 4 thermal scope.

Hawke Map6 or MAp6a are the best rets ever (for me).  Just a shame they aren't in the vortex scopes  8)
