Got a friends mk1 in .25 FAC it has an quickfill in the bottle bottom but that is the only downside. Has 3 magazine and orginal scope rings.

Butt the mk1 does not seem very popular in Holland, the mk2 is more popular. Was wonder why is the mk1 so popular in the UK and not in Holland. Is it because of the 12 foot pound or some other reason.

I have 3 mk2 in .20, .22, and .25 and love to schoot them (mostly the .20 and .22). And thinking about buying this mk1, most say that compared to the mk2 it has a horrible (gamo) trigger.

Probably a few reasons although I wouldn't think that overall ownership is particularly high in the Netherlands just mostly high power?
I'm guessing you guys import most of your Rapids too?

The Gamo was cheap. £600 gun with a £5 trigger
Bit of polishing, spring bending, a bearing in the blade to reduce travel.
Voila! Single stage sniper

Yes. To start with over half of production were mk1s for the UK sub-12 market.
Obviously pre-2002 (s/n 12k)there wasn't a mk2.

FAC Rapids are not target rifles over here either and resale value is pitiful.
Better financial sense to convert a cheap mk1 than buy a new mk2 or MFR TTR.

Whilst Beeman initially handled the US- exports numbers were (again) fairly low and mostly FAC that went to countries with no power limits; Australia, SA, Greece, Netherlands.

And IMO  the Dutch are crazy for retro-power😁
Cafe racers, fire-breathing 205gtis,old BMWs.. Dutch entheusiasts may appear to be laid back but certainly go for it.
