Barrel tight spot

I am looking for a bit of advice.  When cleaning a barrel from a Rapid Mk1 I recently bought I pushed a pellet through and found a tight spot about 4 inches in from the breech end. It does not go progressively tight like the choke end,  it is more like hitting a step. The pellet can be pushed past and it goes a bit rough for half an inch then free again all the way to the choke.  From all I can see down the barrel there is nothing to note, but some of the rifling marks on the pellet appear to be doubled up, with two marks close together.  I polished it with Solvol Autosol and a bronze brush and it did improve quite a bit at first, then improvement slowed. I  did not know how far I should go with the polishing process so stopped. Has anyone had this experience, what caused it, and what did they do?   All comments welcome. Thanks. Gudge

Thanks Kev, I will test for accuracy again at the weekend before any more polishing.  FYI the barrel you ported is fine, it is the other that one that has the tight spot.  Thanks. Gudge

My old FAC barrel was like a corrugated cardboard, shot accurately enough in its early life but suffered inconsistent velocities later on.

Accuracy counts and if it's been bent or has a manufacturing fault there's little to do.
I have a HW100 barrel on my .177 and although the breech end has been trimmed they are prone to a machining pinch which doesn't seem to affect the factory guns.

I bought a bore camera that is fantastic for this type of problem
