Why should we have to pay the price due to what someone else has done with an airgun.
He went to court and has gone to prison.
Is that not enough for some people.
I do sympathise with his family but we were not involved so why should we be punished.

Some people are just obsessed with banning guns, and anything to do with them. Md

All the responsible air gunners here in the uk who have been shooting for many years and have always up held the law at all times never get a spot in the news papers.
If we stopped doing pest control there would be a shortage of wheat and grain products within a year here in the uk.
Why do we never get thanked for what we do so the ones who don't like guns can see we are not all bad.

Regards kev.

PS Scottish laws here we come I think.

A way for mp,s to get more voters on there side and make some money out of us as if they don't make enough out of shooters already.

A real tragedy for the family and understandable that his parents feel this way.
As said earlier only the negative outcomes of shooting, fishing and other field sports ever get press and it plays straight into the 'antis' hands giving them ammunition to ban what they don't want others to enjoy for their own narrow minded agenda.
Probably we do need more control in certain aspects of shooting, I still see youths with airguns roaming lanes and pathways taking a pop at anything with fur and feather. Will licensing stop it, not at all it will only affect genuine users and as usual the majority suffer for the few.

Kernal

Oh dear,

I feel for his family, but putting airguns on a certificate would`nt have stop that unstable grandparent grabbing an airgun and doing it again would it tbh.

He should be jailed for life for his crime, Even though i really do feel for the little boys family & i cannot imagine the pain they are going through in these sad times.

I really feel for the childs parents, but if they think the idiots that do wrong with air rifles are going to apply for a licence then they are very mistaken. The idiots know that they are doing wrong but just don`t care and with attitudes like that, there is no way on earth they are going to apply for a licence. Once again the easy targets get the blame. Makes me wonder how many unlicenced air rifles there are in Scotland now, because I bet not everybody has declaired their guns. Ken.

Mr Bond

It happened near Hull. The bloke had his rifle cocked and loaded in a cupboard. I got told it was an HW 80 with the usual tuning OX spring (hence the firearm references).

He broke many existing laws and has been sent down. Curiously he showed little remorse, I assume that's why the fsmily are still chasing this shortsighted law change to get closure.

Tragedy for sure but dumb folk do dumb things. You can't legislate for super stupid without consequences for the decent.
