Pellet Wash and Lube

Does anyone wash and lubricate their pellets ? I know most of us aren't FT HFT or competition target shooters but the fact that we are targeting live quarry should mean that we are as accurate as we can be. I have been watching a lot of YouTube vids lately and some are quite eye opening when it comes to the amount of crap on pellets straight out of the tin.
So my thoughts are;  I'm going to test a batch of 50 pellets straight out of the tin against a batch of cleaned and lubricated pellets to see if it makes much difference to accuracy and the amount of debris left in the barrel.

For comparison purposes you should weigh the pellets as well as wash and lube. You will be amazed at the amount of different weights you can get out of one tin.

Yes...every tin.....
I do this to remove small pieces of lead...

I put a new tin of pellets in a plastic container that has a water tight lid.
Add enough warm water to cover them.
A couple of drops of Dawn dishwashing soap.
Swirl it around for a couple of minutes, then drain out the soapy solution.
Rinse with hot water.
Then dump out on to a few paper towels to air dry
Then lube up with your favorite juice!!

I used to lube my pellets but i never really notice a difference in group size but it did increase the frequency of pulling the barrel through to clean.

I shoot mine straight out of the tin never had any probs to date.
I'm set in my ways I guess.

Washing and lube dates back to my .20 Premiers bulk box days...
A lot of lead debris and they were coated with a graphite ...I.e. very Dirty..

BTW. the lubing isn't mainly for accuracy...
I more for protection of the bore from moisture...

I go the whole hog so to speak, I size, sort, clean and lube. Keeps the bore cleaner and helps to maintain accuracy

After sizing I clean  the pellets with a blast of aerosol brake cleaner, sort any damages I missed when sizing.
Then I wrap and roll them in a microfibre cloth impregnated with Napier. Job done.
AADF-heavies were really dirty and the tin had a lot of flakes.

Used to do a fair bit of faffing with ammo (centre fire reloading) but pellets are checked for damage - then loaded into the mag 😎

Never really had any issues with pellets before , ok my FAC old barrel had a murderous choke that only shot the hardest of pellets- premiers and logun penetrators. Either it was accurate or not.

I hadn't sized pellets let alone cleaned or lubed any for getting on 30 years.
Since fitting a new unchoked LW and changing over to JSB / AADF accuracy drops off unless the bore is clean.
Some JSBs will group  under a 5p from 50yds right out to 70-75yds but most of the dies the barrel prefers need a little help.
