Mk4 trigger question

I have an earlier mk4 unit with the long blade in my 25m offhand target rapid.
I just can't seem to get a crisp 2nd stage.
I've read all the advise on adjustment but can't get a second stage that I can sit my finger on till the cross hairs glide across the centre of the target.
I can feel it there but it's just too light.
The first grub just increases the weight of the whole trigger pull, it doesn't make the 2nd stage take up an crisper.
Could something be worn?
The gun can fire when the 2nd stage is reached.
I've tried adjusting the 4th grub to get more sear engagement but it doesn't make any difference.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I was same position attempting to set up my S-Type, wasn't 100% happy with the trigger as a whole but couldn't get on with the later set back blade.
Tried an earlier mk4 unit with MFR blade but the grub threads were drilled off-center making blade and sear skew in diferent directions.

I made brass bushes to get everything centered on both, domed the grub screws, set up the safety dog and made sure everything was free to move.
And ended up fitting a Rowan blade to the later unit.

Both are silky smooth but if anything after extensive adjustment as per the guide I can't tell where 1st ends and 2nd starts.

However it intirely possible that two decades of using a Gamo I've set it up completely wrong and have a superb single stage unit

Yes, maybe it's me and there's nothing wrong with it.
I can feel the 2nd stage but there's not enough there to sit my finger on.

Most of the problems I see with adjusting the Mark4 trigger....is with the 1st stage adjustment!
This the First screw behind the Trigger blade.
If your trigger is setup for very Little 1st Stage Take-up, this can make the 2nd Stage not well defined!!
For the Mark4 to work properly, you need some 1st stage Take-Up.....

I spent a day messing with this trigger so I got a feeling for it.
I have a nice first stage take up and I've got it so I can feel the second but it's just too light.
It's easy to fire the gun when actually taking up the first stage looking to feel the second.
I'll look to extend the first stage and see what happens.

Well if your trigger has been "Over Adjusted"
You can always reset and start from scratch..

Should this sear spring look like this, it's heavily bent over to the left.
I'm not convinced the sear was actually located correctly in the spring.
Surely the sear needs to be centered.
There's a lot of play too.

Should this sear spring look like this, it's heavily bent over to the left.

mine wasn't running dead straight before I made new bushings.
Also made a new spring and a post for the spring because the original countersunk screw crushed it against the safety spring.
Was only holding tension on the arm and not on the coil.

Spring seems to have the standard amount of wonkiness, mine definitely had seen a pair of pliers.
Entirely possible that whoever had it before hadn't put the delrin bushes back in the right positiuons but there wasn't a combination that lined up the sears

mine isn't's 100%..but much better than it was considering that nothing was straight to start with including the sears which were as rough as hell and slightly bent..

Pull weight spring shows how far out it all was.

I've shoved it back in and adjusted it to as good as it'll be.
The comps have started at the club so I don't have a choice.
Maybe when the winter leagues have finished,I'll get some work done to it.
Funny thing is I used a mk1 for 25yrs in the woods and never even gave triggers a second thought.
It's only since I've taken up target shooting that I've realised how important it is.
