Open for debate -> Our Very Own Server Running TRF

So, this is a subject that seems to be open for debate, as some members don't like the idea of moving the site onto our own server. I completely understand where they're coming from, as they like the reassurance of knowing the site is hosted externally.

With that said, I also want to be completely open and honest about the situation. If something were to happen to me — and let's get it straight out of the box, if I die, then this site dies with me — the server running the site will be located at my home and will be maintained by me.

I do understand all of your concerns about me putting the site onto our very own server, and as I've said, this is something that is open for debate. I'm not expecting everyone to agree with the idea, but I do think it's worth discussing and looking at all the pros and cons before making any decisions.

I also completely understand that this site now holds a lot of history, and I really do understand that. In fact, I'm starting to think that maybe this site could eventually become the main Rapid forum for all things Rapid.

Just look at how much has been contributed over the years. So many members have dedicated their time and effort to supplying information, knowledge, pictures, technical data and everything else relating to the Rapid range.

Then there's our large downloads database, which contains a huge amount of technical information about Theoben and the work they did. That information is becoming increasingly difficult to find elsewhere, and I honestly think we have built something here that is worth protecting.

That's why I believe this whole subject deserves a proper discussion. Whatever we eventually decide, I think we need to look at the bigger picture and think about the future of the site, as well as the history and information that has been built up by everyone who has contributed to it over the years.
