My Theoben journey

For  long time, I'd been agonising, trying to decide what rifle I'd like to replace my old FAC Webley venom viper. 22. It was a good old rifle, but I couldn't be done with the fiddly 2 shot mag on a cold winter's night plus, the low shot count. After reading such great reviews I decided to go for the Theoben.
Bang on que, a rapid MK1. 22 FAC turned up at my local dealer. I went to have a look at it, yes, like me it's very old, bit of rust here and there but yes, it'll do me. It also included a, what he told me was a Dr Bob quick fill.
My knowledge of Theobens was next to nothing, for on closer inspection back home I realised it was a Best Fittings quick fill. Nothing wrong with this I suppose, but the extended length caused the bottle to clip the moderator. I'm thinking, this isn't going to work. I then did a few modifications. I bought a Dr Bob piccatiny rail and magazine. (probably one of the best mags I've ever had). I replaced the The bottle with a best fittings 220cc bottle. Deciding that the original sound moderator was too loud, I replaced it with my Huggett moderator and adapter.
So now, of course the bottle is well clear of the moderator. And last of all, I placed a padded cheek riser over the stock.
I took the Rapid to the range yesterday for it's first outing, not knowing what to expect. Well! What can I say! I'm literally blown away by it's accuracy! I've shot many air rifles over the years but this beats them all.
Yes, it's lost some of it's originality but I'm sure this winters rats won't notice. And of course, to please the die hard traditionalist, I could always remove the modern parts for the original ones. I'll soon be zeroing my thermal scope and looking forward to a good winters ratting with my Theoben. To sum it all up, as you might of guessed, I've fallen in love with my Theoben.
