Screw Cutting

Hello everyone,

Anyone had their barrel screw cut for a mod, as opposed to the grub screw type fitting like the Vortex?

I'd like a more effective moderator for my FAC .22, and i'm thinking this is the best way - unless you boys & girls know better?

Cheers & atb

As far as effectiveness goes it doesn't matter if a mod is slip on or screwcut.

Availability is an altogether different matter and the chance of finding an effective off the shelf FAC slip-on is almost zero.
TBH even though 'originality' commands a high price these days the long series isn't particualrly quiet.
You'd need to find an old AWT/Pegg or someone to make one.

1/2"UNF s more convenient although that opens a whole load of expensive options many of which aren't necessarily any quieter than a standard HW mod at around 30fpe.

I`ve got a KevG mod on my rapid and i`ve never looked back, It`s really good and very light.

This all day, and probably far cheaper than getting the barrel threaded.

Thanks for your input everyone - will be getting Kev to have a fettle with it so i'll discuss mods with him at the same time.

Thanks for your guidance.

I too now have a KevG mod on my FAC .22 - it's an absolute belter. Quiet as a mouse now, so quiet I thought i'd dumped all my air.
