Went to a new permission yesterday, and not knowing the layout decided to take both my .177 12ftlb MFR and also my FAC mk2.  However, it turned out my MFR had sprung a leak in the reg and when I went to use it I had no air.  So back in the boot it went and I carried on with the FAC mk2.  I don't use the FAC rapid much as on my other permissions I generally use .17HMR or the 12ftlb rapid when near horses or on the rats.  However this field was a nice open meadow with sheep, but houses and the M1 are nearby so its a no-go for the HMR hence I took the rapids.

Anyway, after a quick recce, I found a nice spot and got comfy.  Within 10mins I saw a nice Rabbit at a lasered 107yds.  -I do shoot my rifles at the range too so I know my holdpoints.  Anyway, I lowered the mag down to 10, and held 4.5mil over (A fraction more than my normal 100yd setting).  I pulled the trigger, and bang. Perfect headshot.  The rabbit jumped up then didn't move again.  About 20mins later, 2more popped out a little closer, ranged at 96yds.  I was extremely fortunate that after shooting the first, the second only moved a foot or so.  I shot him too, making it 3 rabbits for 3 shots.  After that, I ended with a total of 14 rabbits, ranging from 20yds to my PCP PB of 107yds.  This was the best days rabbitting I have had in several years as they are thin on the ground on my normal permission.  However, still nowhere near what BigAl used to achieve!

That is a cracking shot with a rapid and I know how you feel.
I have a video to upload of my 165yd shot this year with my rapid and thermal which shows the distance on the screen and date and time.
I have so many videos and still shots on my thermal to load onto pc in time so watch this space for that one.

Mine is running at 900fps using AA field, so equates to just about 29ftlb I think from memory.

-I just need to get my 12ftlb gun fixed as the reg is kaput!

I have an interesting question for you, You say you shot the rabbit with a 28lbs rapid, So when the pellet hit the rabbit at 107 yards what power would it have actually hit the rabit with?.

I just looked on Chairgun.  its 28.6ftlb at the muzzle (or was the last time I chronoed it), and at 107yds it still has 11.9ftlb apparently.

That`s amazing so it hit at 11.9lbs, goes to show you don`t need at that power to make a clean kill.

you don't need that much power at all.  its all about shot placement.  I have probably had 250+rabbits with my 12ftlb MFR, yet because I don't use the FAC one hunting that much I have only had about 40-50rabbits with it.  The power is just handy when you need to push the range a bit, or if its windy, where it is far less affected than a slower 12ftlb pellet.

That said, on a calm day, 75yds is easily doable with 12ftlb and still drops rabbits fine.  -however should only be tried after lots of practice on the range!  -for reference, we shoot on our local range at 100yds with 12ftlb and normally shoot at spent shotgun shells, expecting to hit probably 7 or 8 out of 10 shots if no wind.
