Barrel Change Question.

Hi guys. After converting my Rapid many years ago to .20 and building an almost perfectly quiet silencer I'm getting the itch to tinker again. My Rapid is currently wearing a 400 cc carbon fibre bottle which almost touches the barrel.
Anyway, after fixing a few Anschutz triggers for the unfortunate members who've broken them, I've got funds to buy a Bucketboy shrouded .20 barrel which I know will be a thing of beauty and really quiet. However, to fit this barrel I'll have to reduce the bottle to a standard 280 cc which isn't an issue for me. But, this means I'll have to alter my Dr Bob quick fill to either an MFR quick fill, plus an MFR reg.
My current Dr Bob QF has the M18 bottle thread, the 280 bottles have an M14 thread.
After thinking it out I've got one question for Dr Bob or Kev G. Can the M18 bottle adaptor he turned down to M14? This is assuming that they both share the same bar stock and centre drilling, hence the turned down thread will have equal strength to the MFR adaptor supplied with the kit?

Surely if you're using a QF there's no need to use any MFR bits because you won't be removing the bottle so have no need of the easy no burp removal  ???

Granted Bob's QF won't fit a 280 bottle, but one that screws on to the std bottle valve, like the Best Fittings QF, & BF also do a std valve with the M14 thread,
So 280 bottle, with std valve, BF QF, in to a std Rapid reg.

Just looked at Bob's site & see he makes a 280 bottle QF, so that straight in to a std reg is even easier, & should fit the existing stock.

I have the Mark 2 reg and the M18 bottle valve. The 280 bottle valve is M14 and the MFR reg has a smaller thread as I understand. If I can reduce the M18 to M14 I can keep the same AT and regulator but replace the 400 bottle with a 280.

Get a Bob 360cc bottle there m18 and same diameter as 280cc
Fit like n !!!

No, the MFR bottle valve has the same male outlet thread as the std valve, I fill both bottle types with the same adaptor,
and the reg cores are identical so what thread do you think is different ?

A 280 bottle with one of Bobs 280 fit QF's will be a straight swap, or should be  ::)

Maybe, but rarer than rocking horse poo.

I think he means the Bob qf goes straight into bottle an is a bigger thread he wants to know if it can be reduced so a 280cc bottle will screw straight in to the Bob qf without using a bottle valve and standard regulator
Fit like n !!!

No, I mean the thread into the bottle neck, that's M14, you're thinking of the thread into the reg.

I know what you mean  ;D

Can't see why you won't be able to reduce the M18 QF to M14 .....the opposite end is 1/4bsp  / 13mm .
Holding the 1/4bsp side in a chuck might be a task
Failing that a Best fittings carbon fibre 300cc they have an M-18 thread...may be close to a shroud.

Andycoup

None of the carbon bottles will fit under a shroud.

Well you said the MFR reg has a smaller thread so that threw me  :o
I know the 280 bottle has a smaller neck thread, but surely easier than try to machine your 400cc QF is buy one of his 280cc QF's, which I only just saw he makes this evening.
Selling your existing 400cc one should make back most of the cost
