Was up on my main perm Thursday, the landowner had recently drilled four fields with spring wheat . Told me to fill my boots ;D
Not a pigeon to be seen apart from a few lovebirds showing off, so I took a look a look at a couple of other farms that I would be able to shoot, all had drilled in the last week.
Few pigeons here and there but no solid flight lines.

Friday, another couple of hours watching the fields, didn't even get the gear out of the motor let alone shotgun out of the slip.

Saturday... saw a few 30-40 on the ground, there were one or two coming and going. I set up a hide and they scarpered, four hours and didn't have a shot.

So today: It's my nephews birthday and I've had to show my face so I stayed at home most of the morning. I went out earlier to take my dive cylinder in to get filled on the way see my nephew.
I made a countryside detour on the way home :-X  and there were bloomin hundreds on all four fields.
Landowner was not a happy chap when I said I wasn't able to drop on straight away.
To be honest although I feel like I've let him down, I can't sit on empty fields for days on end (didn't say that).
Hopefully I'm going to get on it tomorrow ...providing he hasn't let someone else on.

Mixed blessings Daz, I've got some time and the opportunity because the client I had been working for pulled the plug on it's long term agency staff.
Basically laid off with day by day work as available.

Would be typical to walk out of the door with a gun over my shoulder and get an assignment by the time I get the decoys out ::)

Ah thats not good mate - get on the pigeons while you can then ....

Family comes first.  The fact you gave up time and they weren't there is out of your control.

I know it doesn't help the feeling, but now the family commitments are out the way, just see wha you can do   8)

Went to the farm early today,  semi-auto,  plenty of ammo and had 6 shots in 6 hours. ::)  Picked up three.
Plenty of pigeons on the move but not feeding on my perm.

They'd moved on a field about 3/4 a mile away, different farm, no chance of shooting it.
There were thousands,  could see big packs lifting and wheeling around the field.

It was a beautiful day though.
