Can anyone tell me what you achieve by fitting silent hammer pip, ptfe spring guides and slip discs, is it just the reduction in noise or are there other advantages

KCE

Hi Maxwell.
When I had KevG fit my silent pip I did notice a significant drop in sound in the action and also it seems to have made the action more smooth in a way hard to explain.

The hammer pip is as Kev says above, just quietens down the action so you dont get a metal to metal noise.
The PTFE guides and discs help to keep the hammer spring from kinking keeping it straighter under compression so that it unloads in a straight line and doesn't drag on the walls of the hammer.  This improves consistency and smoothness of the firing action.

Not all guns react the same.some guns react differently to others regards sound dampening.not a big fan of the ptfe stuff my self.its nice when new but when it's done thousands  of shots it can start to scuff up abit.

For Guides...
Delrin(acetal) work very well.
No quite as slippery as PTFE(Teflon)
But it is more durable....
Another advantage of spring guide.. it can also cut down on
Spring noise....

Good Luck,
Stuart

As stuart posted above... delrin is good for spring guides and discs - kev uses white for his guides and discs 👍

PTFE is very temperature sensitive....so in theory could lead to inconsistencies FPS wise as it expands n contracts

KevG

Think people would be shocked if they measure the diameter in cold and warm temperatures
