Hi all
I'm looking to thread a rapid barrel and also cut it to 450mm. Any recommendations please.

Well How to Do It...
You will chop the Breech end.. Then re-machine it extension, through-port and index dimple.
Threading will also be done on a lathe....

For some to do this.... Need to Talk to KevG or Dr Bob.....

Good Luck,
Stuart

If you are doing this yourself be very careful, the bore will not be centered if you stick it in a three jaw chuck. Try and do it between centres with a dog at the head stock if your lathe is long enough, this will insure the bore is concentric when screw cutting. Sub12 on youtube has a few examples he uses to thread a barrel with 1/2" x 20UNF thread. If cutting down only cut the breach end going into block, the muzzel end is usually chocked.  If you try this in a three jaw and cut the thread it will probably clip the silencer because it's not centred to the bore. Like Stuart said above get Kevg to do this type of work. Even putting in a the new barrel port can cause problems and even deform pellets if breakout appears inside where the rifling is.
Hope this helps a bit.
