My mate has one of these Rifles not very old, he has gone to charge it up, but it won't take any air, is there anything obvious to look out for, other than the charge bottle is full of Air

TIA

Well not knowing what is going on...
If it has anything due with the Foster filling fitting...

The pieces are the same in the 90° version!

So if it not holding air...
It could be the O-ring on internal valve shuttle piece

Good Luck,
Stuart

I have one too ,never had a problem ,might be an idea cocking it prior to filling
Raw HM1000x fac .22
Skout Epoch .25 fac
Beretta 680

Ruger m77 mk2 .223
Many many many others been and gone

Right update, it's a bit tricky because my mate lives 27 miles awy and the Rifle is on ticket, so I can't take it away to look at.

Removed the bottle and depressed the valve easily, so there's no air in the Bottle, Removed quickfill manifold and connected toa bottle and gently opened valve and air is passing through it, Refit to block, then screwed the bottle back on

tried to charge and found Air is passing into the pre chamber on the rifle, but the gauge reads zero and the bottle gauge was reading 250, no air is passing into to the bottle, so thats my problem, its a carbon fibre 480cc one, Any ideas please?

That sounds like the reg is working in reverse, is it assembled & fitted correctly ?
what happens if you swap the fill & the gauge locations ?

Ca_Varminter

WOW!!
If you hear air rushing into the pre-chamber...
Is this a new CF Bottle?? It maybe a bottle valve problem...
The valve plunger in the bottle-valve may not be long enough to be open when screwed on to the Reg!!

Hth,

technically that shouldn't happen as the pressure would open the valve in the same way that a stand alone bottle would normally fill from a cylinder.
Albeit slowly.

?? fill the buddy bottle off the gun  say 200bar and refit to check that..
a) the bottle valve passes air
b) the block is pressurised by the bb.
Then check if it refills from the QF

if the valve pip isn't making full contact with the push-pin it would/should only show after a first shot.. pressure would be lower on the reg side and the valve would be closed.

the block/plenum should fill in a fraction of a second and if air is still flowing then it's leaking.. o-rings valve held/stuck open.

Ca_Varminter

Yes the air pressure should open the valve if closed
But Technically the Bottle Valve should be open!.....
The Bottle valve is open by the depressing pin in the reg.
So when you fill through the QF...
The air enters into the space between the end of the bottle and reg.
So in a completely empty rifle...Air will flow into the the "Open bottle and Pre-Chamber

This is hard to diagnose without being there!!
Is this a RAW bottle with a RAW Valve?
Have you tried a know good Theoben bottle??

Hi Kev
That offer to bring my Raw HM1000X over to you to compare and sacrifice it for seeking further knowledge in the name of science and all that lol ..still stands mate!

check the push pin disc on the pin area,it should have a small hole on the side,if not the delrin pip on the bottle which can cause a seal and not allow air into bottle.i know this hole should be normally there but I've seen an impact and raw with this missing.

Kevgun

Thanks Guys, I'm hopefully going back tonight armed with a bit more knowledge, I have the Bottle from my MFR and i will take my 232 bar bottle with a clamp to fill bottle direct. Kev.g hole in push pin disc? could anyone give me a bit more detail what to look for? regarding the pushpin disc, I'm sure it will be obvious once I strip it apart.

If all else fails, I will take Maxtich's kind offer of comparing his, once i get my head around it, I should be Okay though.

I don't think the mfr bottle will help, different reg to bottle valve fitment

KevG

if you look inside your reg when bottle is of there is a small brass pin with a hole in the centre well further down the pin there should be a small hole in the side of the pin.is it a standard bottle or one with an oring on the shut of pip, like dr bobs or best fittings.if so it could be this oring thats fluffed up and jamed the bottle valve

As I said on the other forum, start at the very basics.

Have you actually tried to dry fire the rifle to confirm the buddy bottle is empty ?

you say you depressed the bottle valve easily, but that would only be possible if the bottle was completely empty, if it's being topped up after some use there should still be over 100bar in the bottle & you will not open that with your finger,
even from brand new I'd expect there would be some residual pressure in it.

I suspect you can't fill it because it's already full & there's been a bit of "new toy panic" trying to sort a fault that doesn't exist.

Kevgun

Yes I have tried dry firing the Rifle, and it isn't new toy panic, he's had the Rifle for 2 years and it get used frequently, he uses it for pest control jobs, so it probably gets more use than some.
