Delighted in Doncaster

Made the pilgrimage to Doncaster last week to deliver my leaking Rapid Mark 1 to KevG. A round trip of about 230 miles, but worth every one of them. I was well impressed with the professional set-up, but even more so by Kev himself, a lovely bloke who treated my pride and joy with as much care and attention as if it were his own.

The dexterity with which he stripped and reassembled the gun was a marvel to behold, and the depth of his knowledge of the workings of the Rapid was truly impressive. In no time at all he fixed my leak, replaced the valve with a beauty of his own making, and polished up various bits on the lathe, a level of detail which I'm sure my local gunsmith wouldn't even have attempted. Incidentally, one of my reasons for making the journey to the maestro was the fact the local smith had warned me that he might struggle to repair it, given that it was an 'obsolete' gun. Kev was suitably and quite rightly scornful to hear this, as I'm sure most people on this site would be.

Knowing how far I had come Kev went to great lengths to be sure he had fixed the leak, testing and retesting repeatedly. He even filled both my buddy bottles before I left, and replaced their seals too. A very satisfied customer headed back up north, and if anyone is looking for expert assistance and is dithering about whether it's just too far to go, I can assure you it isn't

Kev is a true gent and a fountain of knowledge on rapids. His work is of the highest standard, the rabid fox wouldn't let anything leave the workshop sub standard! 😂

I was there Wednesday evening. Received the usual greeting of "Hia KEN mate".  Was there about an hour and in that time he stripped and fixed my MK1. He is one of the nicest blokes to talk to I have ever met.    Thanks for pushing me in at short notice Kev. Glad you and your wife are better after covid, (bet you forgot about the flowers.)  All the best mate Ken.
