MFR LH Block build out.

Hi all,

Now I usually start these sorts of thread with a "I love a MFR" statement due to the fact I honestly think they are the perfect all rounder and since converting my last standard MFR into the RAW chassis stock I have felt something was missing. Don't get me wrong, the chassis build is great and everything I wanted.....but its not a standard MFR.

Roll on a couple of months after the chassis build and a friend of mine put me onto the fact that Impact Air had some left handed blocks for sale......so after a couple of phone calls and some money changing hands there was one winging its way to me.....well I say me....it actually went via Big Dan's airguns and Chris (32:1), to which I am grateful.

Once the block made it back to deepest darkest Ipswich I opened the box and expected to find an "Impact Air" or "GSX" marked block - instead I find a brand new Theoben parkerised block with a serial number.....one of the last to leave the factory....total result! (there's a bit of dust on the 2nd photo, don't worry its not marked".




So I now I had a bare block I had to set about getting all the internals for it - when a block sells for £350 or £400 you simply don't realise that half of that is on internals......I am not lucky enough to make my own bits, so I made a list and set about purchasing. I also raided the shed to see what bits I had lying around.....I ended up with the below and it was all ready to build....have to shout out to Dr Bob here as he had most bits in - and even sent a couple of bits down after without wanting anything for them......he is such a gent to deal with.



So this weekend just gone I put it all together (although I have used a different hammer made for me by Jeffsky as it has an adjustable pip. (Thanks Geoff & Jake).




I took the standard MFR shroud/barrel combo from the original MFR and put my favourite Walnut stock on - its an early one (apparently) and really light, so helps with the balance. The end result is a lovely (imo) standard MFR - the only bits I am shy are 2 x 2BA scope ring bolts...the ones I already had have the half moon risers in with the extended screws....so they are on order and will be swapped out (hopefully by the weekend).



The reg is set at 95bar and a quick chrono test (after swapping the hammer spring a couple of times) gave a 8fps spread over a string with 8.44's with power being around 768fps (just over 11ft lb). If this is how it stays I'll be happy.

A bit of pellet testing and bedding in this weekend to make sure everything is ok, and then I can relax that a standard MFR is back in the cupboard.......although I do have a shorter barrel I could try.......ah crap, its started again.

You dropped on lucky with the block.

The chassis is the whole reason I "had to build" another MFR.....just the LH block makes it a bit special - although off the bench I actually prefer RH blocks.  So both of them (I think) will be staying for now

Afraid not Carl - its a belter.  I have since bought a Leishy Classic, but there is just something about the chassis build....i think is because at its heart is the rapid block..

My biggest dilemma now is whether I take this parkerised block and put that in the chassis and take the chassis block and put it in this stock.....swapping all internals of course.....

My dilemma is that since coming back from Kev G the chassis is performing so well that I daren't touch it
