Ok this might come in for the yearly prize of dumbest question yet  :o

but if I don't ask I don't win

can barrels be identified by manufacturer ie lw or annie and if so how

not asking about identifying calibre (not going for the dumb f***er of the century award.... not yet anyhow) just manufacturer

Squinty

Yes, by the shape and number of grooves.

thanks thats good to know, can you shed any more light / information that would help distinguish them?

Squinty

you're welcome

wish I could help, haven't seen any comparison pictures since the old R7OC maybe 3 crashes prior to the new one.

LW is 12 groove- 60% lands, 40% groove (picture)

if I recall correctly Anschutz 10 groove, narrow ratchet lands - wide 'grooves'

BSA 12 groove 50/50 land -groove

thanks so really it boils down to count 20 "bits" and its an anschutz, count 24 and its a lw or bsa, then stick it on the gun if I can hit stuff its a walther if I cant it's a bsa  :o

Something along those lines.

BSA barrels were the upgrade compared to some that were on Rapid, done right they could be real tack drivers. Plus they'll be 15.5mm o/d and sleeved at the breech

It's interesting from the reading I have done so far aside from my jokey comment I think that the bsa barrels just seem to be somewhat hit or miss quality wise whereas the anschutz / lw seem to more on the money.

Also you have given another differential if the bsa's are 15.5 then that takes the barrel I have out of the running for being a bsa as its over that

many thanks
