Magpies

Shot a pigeon and left it on the lawn for the magpies to eat , couldn't get near them for ages
So I sat by the side of my van .with my .20 rapid. And out of the corner my eye they appeared, they used a a 20ft conifer to stalk the pigeon , as soon as they started to peck at it , I let one go , killed it stone dead , it's mate took flight into a cherry tree while it sat there thinking what f- ck has happened, shot that on too , 👍👍😀

I hate magpie`s tbh,...they kill little chicks and destroy nests,....Good shooting,

I`m going to have to get my act together and shoot more magpie`s myself,......Infact why dont we all do a challenge,....lets see who can shoot the most magpie`s and show photos of the event,

Out here where I am located in California...
There used to be a lot of agriculture... orchards and vineyards
Many of my school mates had Almond orchards..
Well the Magpies were Enemy#1 to the Almond Growers!!!
They would put bounties on them!!

The challenge was to get close enough.. or wait... to drop that first one!!
That is when all their buddies would come in make noise about their buddy that is taking a "Dirt Nap"

I hate magpies! They kill chicks in my hedge rows I'm my garden. If I had any land to shoot over they would be top of my list

An easy rabbit ,pigeon or rook will be left alone if there's even a chance at a magpie

The first permission I ever had, for air rifles only, was a poultry farm. Magpies swarmed over the sheds looking for any way to get inside. One morning the farmers son accidently left a netting door open, the damage they did in a couple of hours was unbelieveable. If they had taken a few eggs it would have been bad enough but they pecked the shells of over a hundred eggs, making them unsaleable. I didn`t own a rapid back then but was able to borrow a mk1. What a gun compaired to a break barrel springer. It took a few weeks to reduce the problem to a reasonable level, waiting inside one of the sheds and shooting them with the power set at ten ftlb. A month later I had a brand new mk1 from Guns International in Barnsley, £700 if I remember exactly, followed by another the month after that. Still have them, they look like new, and can still sell them for the same price as when I bought them. Ken

I do miss guns international Carl was a good gun smith and friendly bloke had quite a few rifles from them over the years but never a rapid! Think the shop is now a take away crying shame!

yes Carl was one hell of a gun smith.
I spent many an hour down in the cellar with him watching him work on guns.
Rene/Julie/Pat always made you feel welcome there with coffee and always good to have a chat with them.
A shame it closed down but I do understand as to the reasons why.
