As some of you know, I'm pretty good at fixing broken things, usually air rifles. I'm currently on about 30 Anschutz triggers, so many in fact, my RFD simply orders parts from my email request now.
Recently, I did a full service on an Artemis P15. That's a relatively cheap air rifle, but surprisingly well engineered and relatively cheap. It has an excellent hammer and firing valve design, only let down by the usual trigger linkage on a bullpup.
FX Bobcat next. Erm.. Not for me. It wouldn't cock unless you really snatched at the handle and then it was hit and miss. I found that the trigger sear slides from side to side on its pin, so most of the time it can be trying to grab the hammer on one side of the lip instead of square on. To fix it, I made two minute shims from plastic pipe. All is good now. Otherwise, pretty poor engineering as many know.
Most recently, the almost fabled HW110. Awful! Once you figure out how to strip them down, which involves pulling bits out of other bits and lifting flat bars to release the hammer assembly, not to mention sliding the cylinder over an O ring in a square groove, you've got the job of removing the anti tamper with a bench drill, blow lamp and screw extractor. As I said, awful things with cast monkey metal parts. Would I have one? Only if offered at about £200.00. An FX, never.
