Corvid bashing

I thought id have a morning out on the corvids....

Decided to bring along my .22 3 digit serial number mk1 and see if I could sort out a few of the corvids.

Got to the farm in the dark as I normally do and just after dawn I started to hear them calling, so loaded up with a mag of air arms field and waited....

Didn't take long until there was a crow at the top of the sitty tree, the rapid dropped it like a stone 👍 it all went quiet after that, so after an hour I moved from the farm buildings and sat behind the digger that's not far from the hedge dividing 2 fields.....

I had no hide was just wearing full camo with gloves and a snood. I didn't have long to wait before the Rapid dropped a big crow from the top of a nearby tree.... then all he'll broke loose ! There were corvids flying around the tree and making a hell of a noise. The noise attracted more corvids from nearby farms and it started to look like Alfred Hitchcocks the birds!!!

The Rapid was up to the job and was dropping crows out of the tree. This made the crows go in to a frenzy and I could see 20+ in the tree calling at the ones laying in the field. It was a mad 10 minutes until they decided that something was going on an they all flew off ! Then a group of magpies arrived, they were going nuts at the carnage and the Rapid dropped 1 off the tree branch and they were flying around going nuts but wouldn't land anywhere close.

It went very quiet after that and I decided to go and do a pick up, some had landed in the hedge that I couldn't get to - but not a bad bag for an old mk1 Rapid 😀

Great shooting well done a nice number Daz can't beat ambushing Corvids.
I must admit that's my favourite shooting of all times!

I think it was - right place / right time but the rapid done a great job on them. Its been a few years since I had such a mad 10 minutes on the crows. The farmer was stunned that I had dropped so many - she has a real hatred for them as she's had to chase them off new born lambs.

I've just bought some lofting poles and decoy hooks ..... thinking that having crow decoys in the top of the tree might give me a few good days 👍

I use lofting poles for pigeons and Corvids ...they really do make a difference..defo gets their attention and Lulls their senses somewhat.
They always work especially on their favourite sitty trees.

Was hoping that they would do the trick to draw them in. Not cheap for something that won't get used too much but will be worth it to reduce the numbers 👍
