 i have had this for about 48 to 50 years. i striped it down to service it in lock down. piston crown was ok but i found main piston spring is shot so what i would like to know is has any one else re placed main spring.if you have is it best to use one from tw chamers or john Knibbs as chambers is a standard one  j knibbs one look's a bit stronger  any info would be great many thanks

When I worked on them in the past I used parts from John Knibbs.

hello KCE  thanks for your reply. did you have cut spring down in length, or was it a straight swap old one out new one in.and then put pistol over chrony, as at the moment mine is putting only 278 to 283 feet per second do you know how much more f p s a new spring might do please

It depends on what make of sring you re fit.
If you fitted a titan you would need to take off 4 coils to keep it on the legal limit.
If you got genuine spring there would be no problem.

I've a Temptest which I used a lot during the lockdown in my small garden. I'd fit as close to standard as I could as although they are fun to shoot extra power isn't going to improve its accuracy or make it suitable for anything other than plinking or close range target shooting.
I got some sculpted wood grips from a guy on ebay which are excellent and do improve the feel and handling tremendously, I've kept the originals of course but prefer the wood and although not standard feel its a worthwhile improvement.
