Hi all, since my last post, I have had a very informative chat with KevG, who has kindly pointed me in the direction that I need to be looking, he is also making a regulator for me. I need to get a chrono to make sure that the power is correct(sub 12ft/ibs) ie not too low or more importantly not too high. The chrono will be used very infrequently so I preferably want to spend as little as practically possible. Has anyone any experience with the combro mk4 625? also there are chinese lookie likies of the caldwell ballistic precision does anyone know if they are any good? Any recomendations much appreciated.

Squinty

Had a combro for 4 years now, reads the same velocities as a Caldwell (since deceased)  and a Pro-chrono.
Would recommend that you buy the yellow alignment tool just to avoid any chance of shooting out the sensors.

Simple to use, put thousands of shots through and only had to change the batteries twice since I bought it.

I have the crombo too and works perfectly fine for me as well, some people go on that you need a expensive chrono to get proper results but all you need to know is that the chrono is working correctly and as squinty pointed out more expensive ones read the same, the crombo are set up properly at the factory and great back up as well as some have shot them when not using the alignment tool

I have a Crombo seems to work pretty well . We tested it again my mate Skan and there wasn't a lot in

When people tell you to buy the alignment tool they aren`t kidding. Had my Crombro for over a year, then a friend asked to borrow it, first shot smashed it. Made him pay for it, but he certainly didn`t like doing it. They are good value for the price.

still think the target tronics is the best .pity its no longer made.

Hi there,
I'm a bit of a gadet freak, so various chronos have been checked out.

The Combro was my first, about 23 years ago, a MkII. Never had any problem with it and it's very accurate.

As an "add-on", you might want to have a look on eBay at the Blueshot shooting chrony. It's an interface between the Combro and your smartphone OR tablet. Works very well and tabulates your results. On your phone or tablet, it's perfect but when you copy off the data, it's ONLY the fps detail available. You'll need to stick the file into a spreadsheet to get all the power, Std Dev., etc.

I bought an F1 chrony but it was such a pain in the rear to get it working correctly, I gave up on it.

My latest "toy" is the LMBR from BAR. Super piece of kit with all the bells and whistle you might want or need.

The only possible issue is the old school serial port interface that isn't present on PCs or laptops any more. I use an old machine running Windows '98 that works perfectly and a USB converter is also available online.

Check it out in this Youtube vid;

Has anyone else got one of these.

I used to have a combro, completely accurate, but you have to reset it between each shot & I kept forgetting which I found really annoying.

I now use a pro-chrono digital which I find superb & I've got the interface to connect it to laptop/PC so can save all the data if I want to.

It also gives it a load more parameters most of which I'll never use but it does show ftlb, while the unit itself only shows FPS.

I use a Shooting Chrony Alpha and found it to be temperamental depending on the light conditions. I find it works best outdoors on overcast days when the light is diffuse. I was quite disappointed and frustrated with it at first but my opinion has changed since buying some cheap LED lights for it. They work flawlessly and eliminate the annoying error readings due to non ideal light conditions. I tend to use it indoors now as it's more convenient. It's hasn't given me any bother apart from that. It's been reliable and I can't see how much can go wrong with it, which is just as well as the company is no more

Hi Angrybear,
the Blueshot add on to connect to smartphone or tablet automatically resets your Combro between shots.
