Theoben Rapid Discussion / Re: Rapid 7 leaking air !!
Last post by Kernal - June 06, 2026, 12:57:14 PM
To be honest, if I ever get a leak, I usually strip the whole gun down and replace all the seals, including those in the regulator. That normally cures any leaking issues and saves chasing the problem from one seal to another.

If you're working on a Mk1 Rapid, the job is easier than most people think. There's plenty of information available on the forum covering the complete strip-down and rebuild process. Have a look around and you should find everything you need to do the job properly.

Quote from: angrybear on March 02, 2026, 05:36:56 PMI just remove stock, scope & sometimes barrel, put the action in the bath & look for bubbles.
If it's reg'd that's probably most likely, closely followed by the valve, & any blanking cover.

They're a doddle to strip & re seal, ATM I've got my Scorpion SE in bits, that's an utter pig by comparison.

Been known to dunk the action to find the most minute leak. Just the bare action with bottle. Trigger, hammer and barrel removed.

Also had the bare action and drip fed the transfer port with with fluid via a syringe to see if the valve is leaking.

Let me give you the full picture. Life was sweet Full FAC performance, new life added with the Zulus V2 fitted until! My single shot loader refused to fit, it had always done before? A new multi shot aftermarket mag arrived, that would not fit either. Had the barrel moved?
In hindsight no cant happen! But at the time what's going on? So off barrel and it was noticed the locks had wear ridges, so replace. The refit advice was, Magazine piece of paper behind, slide barrel back to touch then lock up. Wrong!! Accuracy suffered extreme spread doubled. There is only one place this barrel can lock up, and thats after the locating grub screw is in its full position. any deviation from this causes the valve port and barrel port to misalign. After achieving this, Magazines from 3 different makers fit perfectly, and harmony is restored 32.4 ft lbs, extreme spread 8 fps. If the mag is too tight to enter loading port, then its odds on its not the rifle at fault.

Last lever block here runs 3 grub screws to hold it down.
Block a real fit on barrels going in.
So there not working to much. ;)

Al's Anschutz trigger is now fully repaired with a new catch link and the top sear cut to the correct size. Fully tested in my Anschutz Rapid and it's working perfectly. The photo of the two sears shows the over sized one, fitted by the previous owner, or his alleged gunsmith, with an old one I keep for reference, you can clearly see the difference. Ten minutes in the shed with a Dremmel and fine cutting disc cured that issue. Not easy on a hot day.
Usually, after fitting a new catch link, you find an issue where you cock the action, engage the safety, and if you test pull the trigger, the link moves slightly. Then, as soon as you knock the safety off, it fires. Obviously, this isn't safe. Al's trigger had this problem. To fix it, I always remove the safety lever, heat it to red hot with a blow lamp, then bend the tab up by around half a millimetre and refit it. All done with a bit of faffing and fine adjustment.

White delrin is used because it's harder than black.
PEEK is harder, I'd guess RAW use it because it stands up better to higher reg pressures and 250 bar fills
