Got a rapid here that normally as quiet as a mouse fart. Over the past couple of months, I thought the rifle was getting noisier. Normally most of the time I shoot this, my mate never hears the rifle go off. Just the impact.

Thought the probe was blowing, wasn't that.
Ended up changing the valve, as was blowing through into the hammer chamber. Even after resealing, was still noisy. The bore was slightly worn. Changed the valve and housing for another and all good again..👍

Tim_B has some pictures of some nice looking MFR's with smaller bottles.  And honestly something like that looks great!  Think I can start with that, just need to get a carbon cylinder and get playing.

I have heard that there are a few BSA rifles as well that have a similar, if not the same, thread size as the Theobens.

I will have a look through KevG's section and see what I can find.  Really wish I still had my lathe to make some custom parts.

Well there is the Cylinder from the FX....
Also there is the cylinder from HW100....
The thing you have to worry about, Making an appropriate adapter (1/4"bspp) so it cane
Screw the Cylinder into your Rapid Bottle adapter...
KevG has a tubed Rapid.. You may need to talk to Him!!

Good Luck,

Hey guys,

Say I am playing around with the idea of making a handy little hunting rifle.  Not looking for anything high powered and really wouldn't need a ton of shots.   So looking at ditching the large bottle on one of the rifles and swapping it with a cylinder.  I have been searching and haven't been able to find any sources for a cylinder.

Does anyone know where to find a cylinder, or heck even a small bottle.

Quote from: angrybear on June 11, 2026, 01:07:20 AMSounds like something just got disturbed, or your new old valve may be a different bore,
just do the tissue paper test, & if it's blowing back past the probe check & reseat the barrel to a mag, then check & reseat the probe to the barrel.
Thanks.  Did more playing today and it was blowing back past the probe.   Weird as it didn't do it previously but can't complain as I have never adjusted the probe in my 15yrs of ownership.  I tightened it up a bit and now all seems back to normal.     Although I'm still not 100% sure whether the double tap hammer is 100% OK.  - Kev, is the small pip with a spring on it supposed to be fixed into the brass body holding the inertia weight inside?    Mine is loose when the hammer is disassembled
it's threaded if you just put a little thread loc on and nip back up.

I presume you want the later M7 barrel location screw and not the earlier 2BA screw.

If earlier and 2BA. Then eBay

They help using air,
12ft/fac,
Dad's lever block running plum on 30ft on 16g ammo. 16in barrel.
So a 21in barrel be running around 1000fps,

Quote from: JoeB on June 11, 2026, 05:10:17 PMare these reverse valves any good?  I like the theory of getting a bit more air volume

Can't tell you as I've never fitted it.
