Title: impact gsx block
Post by: GB2017 on August 06, 2020, 06:27:52 PM
Evening

just for info to those of you who might care about such things. I purchased a GSX block today to fit into my mk2 build. Being my first "Rapid " project as such am taking it slowly however one thing I have noticed that is resoundingly irritating (apart from the fact that impact are a royal pita to deal with, that's another another story though, filled with lots of frustration and expletives) is that the block comes with its own bolt plate, why I hear you ask? well the mk2 and gsx bolt plates are slightly different with the gsx being rectangular with rounded corners and the mk2 being rectangular with a cut out corner in one and square in the other.

The real bummer is that the mk2 external cocking bolt is thicker than the aperture of the gsx plate and so wont fit, nor will the one kindly given to me by NevadaCowboy.

The aperture on the gsx block is a gnats dick over 6mm and the theoben mk2 is 7mm. Bottoms!!!

Oh and I also need to get the pins to fix the mk4 trigger assy from Dr Bob into the unit as well as they are not part of the block or the trigger assy, but will talk to Bob about that know he will sort that out as well as answering the phone within two bloody weeks of me calling unlike someone else!!!!!!

interesting, so some manufacturing tolerance issues there then, if you put the impact plate over the theoben and align then you can see a small lip on the theoben, so definitely a tidge difference.

the other thing I have just noticed is the theoben one has a front to back chamfer angled down
