Title: Day off work today
Post by: Kernal on July 27, 2020, 03:22:53 PM
I`ve done nothing but mess about doing nothing today  :)  And i`ve really enjoyed the time out tbh,....I think having time out from work and other duties really does give you a boost!

I`ve done a bit of coding today,  Which i enjoy doing because it give`s me something to do,....and i`ve also had some google time looking about forums see what they have to offer,
Soon i`m going into my attic and putting a tape into my 35 year old zx spectrum and playing a game on it,  But before i do that i`m waiting for the rain to stop so i can walk my dog Marley!

:)

Happy days hey!

Sounds like a good chilled out day mate 👌
I remember loading games from tape into the spectrum - took a while and didn't always work....... but did enjoy the games 🎮

I remember the zx spectrum and the games.
you had to have the volume set right for the games to load and that annoying noise it made while loading.
how things have changed.

Yeah i love my spectrum 48k,  It was bought for me by my grandad who took me into the shop personally,  Its something i`ll remember all my life tbh,
I`ve kept it clean and working and in its box with everything that came with it,

When i show ppl my spectrum first thing they say is , OH GOD THAT MUST BE WORTH SOMETHING ON EBAY,  I`m like hang on a moment,....its worth more to me than anything they can offer me on ebay.

:)

My first personal computer,  By the way i did write a game on it as well,...ok i did port it across from a tandy computer cos the dam spectrum always crashed when mum put the kettle on when i was coding z80 back in the day,

I used to squirt code from the tandy machine to the Z80 processor or zx spectrum in seconds, and start coding again,

There is a few games on utube with my name on it, saying written by ....Blurr Blurr Blurr,

But them are days gone by now,.....

Regards

:)

This is from Mike Berry wishing me a merry christmas way back then when we all coded and hacked games for the c64 computer,

It would be good to see your old computers if you still have them,...post a picture of what you used back in the day,

This is one of our old,...infact very old intro`s into computer hacking way back in the 1980`s

That routine was written by Mike Berry that was very very big in the 1980`s he did very well to code that back then,

I`ve decided i`m not working tomorrow as well,....I`m going to have a walk on the farm with my Rapid & see if i can get any pigeons, So that should be fun,

The farm i`ll be shooting on tomorrow is a barley farm and its full of pigeons,...But i`ll be hiding in the woodland next to the barley where they go to rest after a big feed full of Barely.

Well being an IT/Elect. Engineer....
Usually.. retain thingsvthatbcan be used..toss the rest!!

The opposite, my late uncle, he was electronic enginner too
During WWII, He was in the Signal Corp. He was in London
during the buzz-bomb attacks. He was studying your RADAR Tech.

Anyway, he was a radio/tv repairman...
These guys never throw anything away!!!
I remember helping repair tube-tvs in the day..
He would let me check them in his tester..
If it was bad, he would get a new one, put the bad one Back into the box that new one came in!!
Then test the new tube to see if was a good one that he pulled off the shelf....

The old days.....

They tried to put Electronics in Airguns...Personally I see no Advantage...
I love my fast-flow Rapid with self tuned Mark 4 trigger..
You can beat it....only with my Fully Custom Titanium Rapid!.....
The Rapid is a classic.....hard to out do perfection...

Since I retired every day is a day off. It took me about six months to get used to doing nothing work wise. It was hard because I felt guilty not working. Been retired nearly ten years now and I don`t know how I managed to fit all the things in that I had to do. Now I do what I want when I can find the time, (poorly wife, needs lots of help), and I have never been happier, apart from my wife being poory. Take every opportunity to have a day off, life is too short. Remember the idea is to work to live not live to work, and having a few Rapids to play with makes it all the better. Ken.
