Once again i had rats in my bin,...So now the wifes like pulling her hair out and ordered me to sort them out, I told her i only know of one way to do this.

Ok i`ve just got the rapid out of its box, and i`ve also been testing its sights getting ready for the shoot that is about to start soon.
I`ve set the sights for 25 yards so had to make a few adjustments, But now its hitting bang in the correct area i need it to hit.
I`ve just run it through the cronograph and its pushing a whopping 11.50lbs,
Now the bait,
I was thinking sausage meat mashed up so they have to sit about licking it up, Instead of grabbing big bits of the cooked sausage and running off with it,
Any other ideas for bait that i can add to the mix, If i have any of your idea`s to temp the rats in then i`ll add it to the bait to see what happens.

peanut butter or chocolate Nutella will both do mix it with cooking oil to thin out and just pour some down that way they cant steal the bait.

I`ve found some nutella, But i don`t have any peanut butter,
So what would be the best method of mixing the nutella on its own.

I think what i`ll be going for tonight is head shots so i do need them to stay still because i`m not as young as i was back in the day!
So when taking the shot i need it to stay for a little while until i get the cross hair on the brain area so i can then & only then take a clean head shot.

Cannot believe this the magpies are after my bait now, I don`t want to shoot the Magpie`s because i know they have young in the near tree`s close to me.
So at the moment i`m throwing the dogs toys at them to scare them away, But they keep on coming back to try steal my bait.
Maybe i should have done this a bit later on.

I`ve not seen one rat yet,....But i can guarantee if i put the Rapid away they would come out,
Making me think this now if i should have done this later about 10pm when its going darker.

After all that today,...I`ve decided not to shoot rats in the day?, Due to all the birds wanting a part of what i put out to cull the rats.
And the magpie`s?, Well i couldn`t shoot them because it`s breeding season, and god help me if i hurt any bird that was looking after its young, i would`nt be able to sleep at night.
So what i`m going to do is leave it tonight because its work tomorrow,...and have a go another day,..Come tomorrow i`ll just have to let the rats out the bin again!
I`ll take a picture showing you the rats in the bin tomorrow if any have dropped in to eat the food in that bin,
Look whats in my bin again this morning :o , Not again ::)
Why not just shoot them in the bin?
They are brown rats from the fields.

Yes, I`ll be having another go tomorrow night around 10:30pm and not setting up in the day time like i did a few days ago,
Personally i think come tomorrow night i`ll smash them,...
But tonight i`m having a chill out, Making pizza again and watching some movies on netflix, Its been a long day today at work and i`m just happy to be chilling out making pizza and watching the odd movie.

Ok tonight i`m back on this rat shoot going to spend a little time shooting these rats again,
I have the Rapid Mrk1 out and read, Now i dont have any sausage so i`ll have to make do with some mince meat and burger meat i found in the freezer,
I`m hoping this will work just as good as sausage meat, But lets see what happens tonight.
Its now 10:15pm where i am, and i`m about to cook up the bait and put it out to see if i get any rats coming for a midnight snack.

What a thread to wake up to this morning, I`ve been rolling over laughing at all that,
Today when i`m out and about i`ll get hold of some cat food and when i get home about 5pm its rat shoot again, P:s i got 8 rats last night all head shots and very clean kills.
Thanks guys that was a good read for the morning and now i have to go to work again, Plus its raining UUrrrrrrRR.

Well Stuart i don`t know about being a Dirty Harry, But i did take your advice and went out and got some cat food, also sausages YUM.
So i`m not going to start ratting tonight until it gets dark, So i think about 10:30pm, But tonight i`m staying up till 1:30am to try make a big dint in the amount of rats in my garden coming from the fields and next door.
If any of you other members wish comment on the best way to make a big dint in all these rats i keep getting it would be much appreciated.

Well last night was a total disaster, NOT ONE RAT :( , I had everything in it place & not one rat came out to look what was going on,
I give up around 1am, So what went wrong god only knows,
So i was thinking about this, Maybe just maybe i should start leaving food out at night in the spot i intend to cull them, and get them used to that area as food instead of my bins.
Also, I was thinking of putting the odd rat trap under the sheds and in places where the dogs can`t get, Maybe that would help cull them too.
I dont want to use any poisons to do the culling because of people around here owning cats, and other pets that roam around the area, So if any culling is going to happen it must be via,.... 1, Airgun 2, Trap.
