Wasn't really sure which section to stick this in so I thought I'd try here.
Does anyone know the dimensions / details of the Elan cylinder ? Length, diameter, capacity?
Not the tiny bottle one.
I've read they were based on an FX cylinder at the time.
Does anyone know anything about them ?
Cheers Rob
I'm sure they were very specific to the Elan and were 60 cc
Here's a picture of it if it helps!

Thanks Titch
I was aware of the 60cc one (I thought it was 64), but I believe Ben used a cylinder rather than a bottle one a later one.
I'm actually looking at trying to reduce the front end weight of a BSA Superten (shock horror) as I don't need a huge shot count, and the elan cylinder / bottle may be one of the only ways.
Though I imagine finding either would be as easy as finding a golden egg laying goose :(
It was Bob Armstrong that suggested it
I've found the article showing the cylindered version. Looks like it will be too long anyway for what I need, so I guess I'll need to try and source the 60cc buddy bottle.

Hi Kev
Not at the minute as I'm not actually sure of a size I want.
If I can get some dimensions on the elan cylinder, it would give me a good starting point
If I can get 60 shots per fill, it would do me.
Cheers
Pretty sure I've found something that will fit the bill.
Thanks all
I'm pretty sure they actually gave 50 consistent shots not sure about 60 !

I've got one Rob, I'll dig it out later and check the dimensions if you still want?
100cc buddy bottle would do it mate 👍

Thats exactly what I've located Daz.
I can get the bare cylinder then buy the bottle valve from best fittings.
I'd like to see the sizes of the elan one though before I buy the 100cc bottle, though I reckon for what I want, the 100 will give me the weight reduction I'm after whilst giving a more than adequate shot count.
Cheers

No problems, mine is one of the later ones. The tube is quite long & one constant diameter, not like a buddy bottle.
I've just had a look at the article, and that's the one I've got. Apart from a couple of small differences.
Mine doesnt have a lightstream fitted, it's got a nice little hawke sourced from a very helpful gent on the Agf 8)
Ive also removed the long series mod in favour of a BB mod
Here is a couple of pics of my lightweight rapid fitted with a 100cc bottle - hidden inside an MFR stock 👍

Cheers.
The 100cc bottle is the way I'm going.
Nice with it hidden in that MFR stock Daz.
Thanks 👍 it was fitted to a RAW quickfil regulator with gauge - so I wouldn't have to remove the bottle to charge it 👍
The WP of the 100cc bottles is 232 bar - so loads of capacity too 😎
It sounds like you're sorted Rob, but I thought I'd put the measurements up for any future needs.
Apologies for the delay.
Complete length of cylinder = 285mm
Diameter = 33mm

Yep I've got one, fx tube mk3 elan version for want of a better title. I'll have a measure. 29.5 cm. fits inside a gnib stock foreend.
Nice one matey, these little 100cc bottles are good aren't they 8)
Just got a ben taylor elan in with reg fitted in the tube.think it was sold from new as unfinished.its as mint as can be.going to be fun doing this one.

Be good to see some pics during the strip down kev - if you get a chance 😎
That is a nice bit of kit! I'd love to get hold of an elan never seen one in the flesh probably never will either but I can live in hope!
Not over impressed with some of the internals.reg core is one of those steel sealing face ones and creeps like hell.

I'm sure it will be very different soon Kev, it just needs some time in your shed.
I love the way mine handles with a small scope on it. Going from a Mk1 to the Elan is a bit like shooting a toy rapid. Everything is so familiar, just much lighter & more pointable.
