Title: I had to Modify one Dr Bob's Mags
Post by: Ca_Varminter on June 06, 2020, 02:22:28 AM
The usual diet Ul_Ti_Mate Rapid is JSB Monsters @ 70 fpe.
When the JSB Beast came out there, I wanted to give them a try.
But they were too long!.....Couldn't use them in the mag!!

Monster(25grn), Baracuda(21grn), Beast(34grn)

The plan of attack is to cut a groove in the lid and also enlarge the groove in the bottom of the body of the mag.

So time to set up the CNC mill with my rotary table.
I clamp the lid directly to the table and cut the groove with a .25" endmill..

Next is setup my 4 jaw chuck on the rotary table and secured the body of the Mag. I used a .25" round-nose endmill
to deepen the bottom groove..

Here are final results...

They only downside to my modification...I milled off Dr Bob's Logo!!

Great work stuart 👍
With more and more heavy pellets being made - could be an idea for a range of FAC magazines to be made 👍😎

What a cracking read Stuart and quality pics to view.
You do have the perfect set up there to do the job.
How many rounds can you fit in the mag now.
Regards Kev.

Hey KevG,
Well the Gunsmith I helped with sales and a little gunsmithing...
He always had his apprentices cleaning their area..
He alway had them brushing off, sweeping, and vaccuming  as they worked!
He hate watching machinist use air to blow thing off...

So as my Liitle CNC mill is doing it's thing, I vacuum up the swarf!!

THanks,
Stuart

In Cyprus they use heavy .177 boat-tail pellets I have had to machine the cover out a few times for customers over there.
