The adjustable pip, in theory would adjust the power of your Rapid.
It does this by shorting the "stroke" or "lock time"...
So screwing the pip "In", would lengthen the stoke...So Increase Power.
Doing the opposite... has the opposite effect!!

I would not bother if you want to run your gun at its best.you need around 2mm of hammer pip thread inside the hammer for the inertia spring to sit on else the spring will break or deform.so if it's screwd out spring will get damaged.to much thread in the hammer will loose travel of the inertia weight so will not work at it's best or not at all.

Thanks for the replys and info,the reason i asked was because i fitted a new valve to the gun that the bottle screws into, the old one had damaged threads,but since fitting the new one power is realy low as in 5fpds,tried different hammer springs to no avail,this is with a std hammer fitted, chris
Hi, have you used a Best Fittings bottle valve?
If you are still down on power after changing springs an adjustable hammer pip probably won't make much difference.
The issue is likely to be airflow, they are known to be more restrictive in some applications.
BF valves have a narrower pip/bore than the OE items.
Unfortunately more suited to sub-12 or regulated (primarily BSA S10 & R10s)

Adjustable pips are really just for fine tuning
As Kev has mentioned you stand a fair chance of messing up the inertia cycle or breaking the inertia soring.

different lenghth hammer pip,on standard hammer,and a different spring,then got the lastbit of adjusment on the back cap,so all good . :) chris
