Title: Hey all
Post by: MFRGUY on October 06, 2025, 05:48:14 PM
Hello and good day everyone,

Glad to see there is still a theoben forum.

I've got a MFR .20 and to me it's just one of the best air rifles ever made. I had 4 at one point but just kept of going back to the MFR .20.

It's got a few modded parts from Kevg many moons ago, the reg, barrel screw  . Couple of other parts also. Top man for anything Theoben.

Welcome to the Forum MFRGUY.
I like the .20 calibre and would like to get a MFR at some point if one becomes available when funds are also available, to add to my meagre Rapid collection. I have a Mk1 Rapid .22 and a Mk2 Rapid .177 which are great rifles. Others .20 in my collection include a Theoben Evo rammer, a HW100 PCP and a HW95K which are all great in .20

Hello Stuart I can remember you from the other theoben forums.

I had 2 MFR's at one point which thinking back seemed a bit silly. One was from there first kinda run where the stock was pretty thin where the bottle went in. I definitely was on high alert when using that MFR.

I had a .22 Fenman brought in about 99 from memory, that was a great gun very very accurate out to about 30m. Lovely feel and action to it, one I regret selling.

I've got a HW on order a HW45 bronze star .20, as it's a special order I'm having to wait till Nov for it (already 3+ weeks in) and I'm itching now! I've also presently got a air arms pro sport in .177, I might sell that though as it just sits in its sleeve..

When I've time I'll get some photos of my Theo.. 👍

Me to, I just acquired a job lot of .20 pellets about 3500 for £65, I've got a stash of old crosman premiers as well in the cardboard boxes, I may sell those as I know the FAC guys love them and I shoot mostly 13g pellets, I'll see!

I just replied to Stuart about HW by mistake about HW, I've got a HW45 bronze star on order in .20. I wouldn't mind getting a nice HW rifle in .20 at some point. How does your HW100 compare to a theo? My friends got a HW95 and that's got a lovely feel and action. I've not fired many pellets through it though so I can't judge.

I had a Fenman .22 many moons ago the gar rams are great rifles in my opinion, my Fenman was super accurate. Until I lent it to a mate who pressed the trigger with the barrel broke.. Strong ng words were had! Lol.

Also a big fan of both the best looking Theoben, & .20 the best sub 12 calibre  ;)
I've got a pair(ish) the first is actually a "MK2" block with the sporter trigger & side cut-out, shrouded barrel, MFR'd which shoots FTT 11.4gn
the 2nd is a true "MFR" block but std 16mm barrel, currently in an "AR type" chassis, & Dr bob 380cc bottle, which shoots the 13.7gn Exact.
Both are superbly accurate with their preferred pellet.

Regarding the Hw100KT FSB and Rapid comparison, for me, the HW100 is a great rifle as standard but my Rapids edge it in my affections.
I've had the HW100 Tuning Company full upgrade and service and have one of their 300mm titanium cylinders fitted, which is larger but lighter than the standard tube, improves the balance and has increased the shot count by about 30%. Being a KT version, it's fairly compact at 880mm overall length, quiet silky smooth cocking and loading with the side lever and metal rotary mags. Being a shrouded barrel, it has similar muzzle noise level to my Rapids which have the standard Theoben mods fitted.
(I tried the HW FSB dedicated mod which is very effective but it had a negative effect on accuracy. I have fitted an A&M Twink using a 30mm long piece of 1/2 inch UNF threaded tube as a mod to shroud connector and only the hammer and valve operation are now audible on firing and this has tightened up the grouping).
Both my .22 and .177 Rapids edge the .20 HW for accuracy and there's something about Rapids that put them ahead of any other PCP I've owned, including a Daystate Air Ranger which was no slouch!
If you're considering another .20 cal PCP, the HW100 is definitely worth a look at.
Would be great if the quality pellet makers produced a .20 in 10gn for sub 12ft/b.
