Title: Fac .22 theoben
Post by: etiam viviens on May 17, 2024, 02:51:55 PM
I have a .22 FAC theoben rapid that does max 65 joule with a Raw Power valve unregulated schooting JSB redesigned monsters 25.3 grain at 283 m/s.

Was wondering if I could regulate this rifle and use a higher pressure in the 500 cc buddy bottle.

For example set the regulator to 150 bar and fill the buddy bottle to 250 bar. This to avoid the powercurve and schoot at distances to 75-100-125-150 meters.

I have the following questions about this.

Can the theoben regulator handle 250 bar to start with?

Is this done before by one of the members before?

If the regulator creeps can the block handle this pressure.

Plenum volume will be the key to regulation.
Possible a decent reg will operate correctly at 250 bar...the S-type was specced at 500cc/250bar
My block survived a 230bar reg failure although the exhaust valve didn't. Ker-dung!!

The current RAW regs are set at 175bar,...bottle fill pressure can be to whatever the SWP is for that bottle. An unregged MK1 bottle fill is 230bar without issues so obviously the receiver can take that no problem.

In my Raw´s the regulator setting are

150 in .25 doing jsb heavy at 283
155 in .22 doing jsb monsters at 281

are all the new raw´s in FAC set to 175 Bar?

No,..if u research the benchrest comps in US the RAW's are all using big inline plenums for volume and regs then set at 175 bar. Longer barrels obviously and setup to shoot slugs. So far no one is offering inline plenums here for the earlier Rapids as the hreads are different,...another thing to try and do on the long list!
