Limitations are preload and balancing the valve
No idea on spring rates, pretty sure you asked before?

17 coils 72mm long
o/d 12.7mm x 1.42mm wire
Indeed I asked before butt this information is hard to find. And in Holland these springs for the Theoben rapid rifles are difficult to order.
I have 3 theobens and they all need new valve springs and enertia weight springs. Butt what to order in a spring shop.
I was wondering how other people do this?
I assume I'm not the only one in the history of Theoben that needs new springs.
So was hoping that someone has this info

I just buy from the place that did them for theoben.i normally order in bulk.hammer springs come in full length and need choping down to different lengths for individual guns.what will give a certain power in one rapid could be miles out in another due to reged or unreged also different calibres ect.

I don't believe the exact spec is 'out there', Bucketboy did a bulk buy a few years ago from Vincent Springs (hammer/valve/inertia) , apparently OE spec but I couldn't balance them and bent a couple of stems @32-33fpe.
**exhausts were stiffer than my old ones but lost 8fpe and they lifted under preload, just smashing them to get power over 30fpe**
Went back to my old dual rate AWT hammer spring and used thumb & fore-finger to select the exhaust from what I had.
I tried a few stock springs from Lee Spring, Flexo and Springmasters, settled on a 1.35 /1.4mm wire close to dimensions iirc 1.5nm/mm.
1.83nm was too stiff likewise 1.2nm was very soft.

That's way longer than in any of mine inc my FAC ???
yes 72mm is the full length of the uncut springs.normaly a couple of coils need taking of even for some facs.but the .25 fac do need the full spring especially if unreged.

Ah, just checked my FAC .25 springs are cut at 61mm,
I suppose that that might explain why it tops out around 44fpe, but it already takes a good strong pull to cock the bolt :o

Ah, just checked my FAC .25 springs are cut at 61mm,
I suppose that that might explain why it tops out around 44fpe, but it already takes a good strong pull to cock the bolt :o
if its an old mk1 that power is damn good.a mk2 depending if reged or not should get 50 to 55 ftlbs

It's a mk2, was FF but just changed barrel & fitted a reg now struggling to get 42 ftlb, (reg at 145-bar) but I'll try making a spacer to extend the hammer spring.
how long is barrel and what size porting m8

The new barrel is 24" with a 5mm port, reg at 145bar it's making around 860-865fps with 25.4gn
the old FF barrel was 24" with 3.8mm port, I managed 884fps with that.
Well I tried a longer spring but the valve stuck open after the shot :o had to open the bolt to get the valve closed again ???
