Title: mk2 quick fill o-rings
Post by: Blitzking on July 27, 2023, 01:35:05 PM
I've a late 2012 mk2 Rapid which has, what I believe is, a factory fitted quick fill and pressure guage. It was leaking air through the barrel, so I'd ordered an o-ring kit off ebay, from Bagnall & Kirkwood.Tried the 0-rings included for the quick fill/pressure gauge housing, they fitted nicely in the grooves but were a very tight fit when I tried to press the housing on to the bottle holder, to the extent that the o-ring are damaged. I've tried various metric sizes of o-ring that take less force to fit but they aren't sealing. I tried some bs017 o-rings today, and they seem to be the same as those included in Bagnall & Kirkwoods kit. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated

Very lightly dress the outer rim of the male side so it's rounded with no sharp edge to catch the O rings & use silicone O ring grease on the female side & O rings, to reduce friction, fit them together with a twist as well as a push.
You could also try putting the male side in the freezer overnight to shrink it a micron or two.

Down to my last o-ring from a pack of 10, tried the above suggestions, still very tight and shaving a sliver off the o-ring. Any thoughts?
