Chronograph results from Theoben Rapid .22 FAC. Mk2 21inch barrel.
After a complete fit and tune of kevG's valve assembly and hammer spring.
H&N Barracuda 18. 18.13 grn. 901fps. = 32.69ft lbs.
H&N Barracuda Match. 21.5 grn 826fps. =. 32.58ft lbs.
JSB Monster Diablo. 25.39 grn 758fps. =. 32.40ft lbs.
I would hope to just tweak, and get an all around 34ft lbs. Just to get a little lead on my Air Ranger which is turning out an all around 29ft lbs, with exactly the same pellet test.
Note looking for the sweet spot, the test was done from a fill of 170bar, after approx 35 shots the bottle read 130bar.
Have you tried the jsb 15.89 ?
I use them in my fac rapid @ 900-910 fps

No I have not gone that light. Previous experience with my Air Ranger @ 30 ft lbs showed a very decent performance and shot count with 18.13, first JSB now H&N 18.13. Having a ft lb of 29.3 (852fps) with that rifle, now following on with the Rapid @ 32.69 (901fps) gave me the performance I felt I needed. I feel that JSB has gone unreliable in many ways, so have moved to H&N and not regretted it. How are the 15.89 shooting generally for you?

I think you can't beat them to be honest, used them for years in different fac rapids as has my mate

Accurate1. Seems I have always been the 18.13 grn for longer range work in FAC. Just believed heavier, longer retention of energy. That is of course to be observed in regards to trajectory, here heavies work against you. But I took a new look when I asked Matt Dubber why he was using 16 grains at 100 yards, he replied that was all he had but they were adequate. From then I think there is always room for experiment, especially when other provide proof of the pudding so to speak. So I will give your suggestion some hammer on my next range day. Thanks for the heads up 8) .

I always use the 5.52 head size , find them the best too 👍
I think it's finding the best accuracy and working around that irrespective of energy.
Used to shoot Premiers 1000fps+, then 16gr Logun Penetrators.
Wasn't until I had a barrel change 4 years ago that I started using JSBs.
And I have to agree with Dr.Fox on the inconsistency of JSB, FX and AA, some dies were 5p accurate at 80yds others were all over the place at 50.
With the old girl running a regulator and down a few fpe I've gone back to lightweights for rabbiting at night, JSB express @ 975fps.
Prefer 18s if I'm sniping pigeons they poleaxe em.
I'd use 16s but at twenty quid a tin I'm not prepared to wade through the die numbers to find the good ones.

With you on what you say. Its surprised me just how many of my pcp's have weaned over to H&N's of all weights and calibre. Even my newly acquired Rapid at 34ft lbs, is performing at excellence with their Barracuda match 21.5 grn, 843 fps 33.94ftlbs. Thats tuned with kevG's help.
Only have one gun that shows sufficient accuracy with H&Ns- my 177 performs very well with 9.57 FTs. But JSB 10.3s smash them for shot to shot consistency.
I'm surprised anyone finds .22 Barracudas accurate, I've had 5 barrels on my Rapid; OE, 2x 12 groove, polygon and a HW. Plus an FAC Superten.
1.5 > 2" groups @ 50yds ::)
I had my fac rapid running at 40 fpe in .22 and was very accurate with a 19" superten barrel with a diet of bisley magnums even at 60 yards
the old BSA barrels are the best if you ask me.

I've got a 19 inch bsa 22.. which runs at 845 with jsbs 18.13grain.. and is what I would of called lazer accurate .
I did also used to have a 24 inch .25 again what I thought was accurate
I'm currently using 24inch polygonals on both my rifles now and both are up there pushing in the mid 900s
I have found the polys to be phenomenal
I can stack pellets not just get them in the same small groups
I wont sell my bsa barrel but can't see I'm going back
