Title: Strange bottle valve
Post by: angrybear on March 11, 2023, 07:20:10 PM
Just bought a 280cc bottle in a private deal fitted with what appears to be a Schrader valve ?
I knew it wasn't an MFR valve when I bought it, but I expected a std Rapid valve not this, any ideas what it's off.
It's doing well, there's 220bar in it  :o

Someone on the airgun BBS has suggested that "once upon a time" this was a normal Theoben set up, Seller said it came with his MK1.
it is dated 1993.

So this is simply a very early Rapid bottle & nothing to do with a soda stream as per posts above  ::)

just looks like a normal theoben bottle of course it's could have had an after market mod done on the internal shut of valve to me it looks like a schrader with a broken pin,but hard to tell in the picture

yes....
This was pre MFR/regulator era.....
The early 280cc BB used a HP schader valve...

That's a 1992 flat bottomed 280 bb valve with the schrader from my original mk1.
Took the bottle to get hyro test last week and the guy said to bin, its to old. £45 for test or £66 for new bottle.

Vented & popped out the valve core, pin's fine still got the blob on top,
So did the early valve "pips" have a solid top ? because the pin goes down the centre hole of all mine,
the only rifle it works with is the FAC with the Best Fittings QF which has got a solid "pip"

They where not made to work with Regulator with the hollow depressing pins...
They do work with fast-flow or Non-reg bottle adapters...
You may need to talk to Dr Bob, if it takes a standard 280cc(smaller threads) valve!!

the very first regs that were on the first anschutz mk2s would work with then their push pin disc were steel and not brass with a solid ended push pin

Well it can go on the back burner for now as they say, thanks to Guy, I've now got a second of Dr Bobs 380cc MFR valved bottles for the new build   8)
