so notice that the bottle or probably valve on my new to me MFR isn't straight, its rubbing on the stock and shroud when being removed, any ideas?
some of the stocks can rub the bottles a bit if they are tight maybe thats bossing the bottle into the shroud especially if the shroud a 30mm diameter one not much clearance.does everything look straight and parallel when bottle is niped up tight.
KevG
no Kev mate it defo kicks out one way as its tightened even when fully tight
Take the bottle off & roll it on a flat surface, watch the end of the valve to see if it remains parallel or spirals,
if it rolls parallel take off the bottle adapter, fit it to the bottle, but NOT tight enough to open the valve, & do the same, something should show out of true.
I had a similar problem with my MFR mk1 build ...
The block wasn't sitting in the stock completely level which caused the bottle to rub on the bottom lip of the stock . Look at the bolt plate and see if it's level with the top edge of the stock .
pics are taken at the 3 points on the bottle valve
Fairly good news, most likely iffy machining from new, but I suppose there is a risk the rifle has previously been dropped & the bottle took the impact causing the thread to bend.
Very close inspection of the thread base req'd, maybe even NDT, or just fit a replacement valve.

hope so, trying to find another bottle to try on it first, then i'll see about a BF valve or something for this one
bottles aren't necessarily perfectly straight, threads (and bottle holders) wear and under pressure they can tilt a millimeter or two.
I'd start by relieving the stock, if one part of the bottle is catching.. it'll push the other side into the shroud.
Just pack the action up a touch to see if that helps rather than remove wood from the stock. I had the same issue on an mfr, changed the bottle and sorted it straight away

thats reassuring, trying to track down a bottle now
sure there would be someone local to you were you could just try their's
KevG
are the best fittings bottles/MFR valves any good lads as an option?
I got a couple of the mfr valves from best fittings and they were fine, not like the 400cc which can be terrible. have you tryed nipping bottle up with out the stock on and see how it sits then.

KevG
yes Kev mate, its all over the place and still touches the shroud slightly
I'm running a best fittings mfr valve with no issues at all

nice one Matt, waiting on a couple of people getting back to me but might order anyway
I have the Best Fittings MFR bottle valve on a couple of mine, seem fine so far. A lot better than their usual theoben bottle valves.
well after a chat with Daz this morning, i've kept my 200cc beesa bottle i had as spare for my superten and ordered some bits from Best Fittings, only ordered the one valve for now to try, if it solves my issue with the 280 bottle, i'll order another valve for the 200 👍
