Title: Leaking fill valve
Post by: Rapid7bee on May 01, 2022, 07:45:26 PM
Hi All,where do I get a new filling nipple or seals to fit the nipple,Bought a spare from  worst fittings(Right) and a seal kit,  but the valve sticks open all the fricking time when filling. Driving me mad so had to resort to old school filling by removing bottle to fill.

That sounds very strange for a Foster QF to stick open...
Especially with 200 Bar pushing against it!

If it is rebuildable, there is not much to them.
Just the body, retaining screw, shuttle valve and O-ring.
I would take it apart. if you can... Check to see if there is any debris or cut on the O-ring!

If all else fails, Contact Dr Bob... He makes the one of the best QF!!
He should be able to fix you up with a proper Foster nipple....

Good Luck,
Stuart

Hi Ca_Varminter,I stripped it down and the seal had broke, so I ordered a new foster fill from worst fittings, but it sticks open and doesn't shut off,I even changed for spares that come with it but still sticks open.filling old school way at moment but need that quick fill up and running.

Those two male valves are obviously from different makers so you aren't trying to mix & match between the two are you ?
the actual moving valve bit inside should seal if you blow through it, never mind having bottle pressure behind it ?
Something very strange going on  :-\

Left come with quick fill on gun,Right I bought of worst fittings with spare internals piece and spare seal, but the fricking thing sticks open when bleeding off the valve on my Tank, letting all the air back out of the bottle,it'll seal 1 in 5 and drove me mad so gone old school filling until obtain a new valve.
I'll give Bob a bell tomorrow.

Best Fitting insist on fitting standard shore 70 hardness O rings that inflate when filling and block the air flow this dramatically shortens their service life. I have harder ones specially made. They were going to be something like £70 for 100 or £80 for 1,000
They are the same size for my fill nipples and my bottle valve tips. People send me a self-addressed envelope and I give them away as they will be past their shelf life before I use them all.
