I just bought an early mk2 rapid and its firing a bit Hot,I tried a weaker hammer spring but then it doesn't fire.its Regulated so how do I drop her down.
Well the correct way...
Is to drop the Reg Cutoff pressure...
To do this, you first remove the bottle and de-pressurize your rapid.
The pull the reg off
Then adjust it by turning the adjustment nut anti-(counter) clockwise.

Depending how hot, it may on a slight tweak (1/8 of a turn)
Good Luck,
Stuart
Ok great , I'll give that a try tomorrow and put her back through the chrono.it'll take more than 1/8 of a turn, we got some naughty boys in these welsh valleys.
Fantastic...
You got the Idea...
No Need for any fancy gauge setups!!
But if you wanted to know what the cutoff pressure was adjusted to..
Dr Bob's Regulator Tester to the rescue!
You attach Dr Bob's Testor to your Tank and use it's gauge and bleed off valve...
So you screw your your Reg into it, the screw on a full bottle.
You tank's gauge will tell you what is the cutoff pressure is..
hth,
Stuart
I followed the instructions on how to drop Regulator, but It hasn't made a difference. She still didn't drop at all.i dropped in a smaller Hammer spring and adjusted screw behind trigger and it fired and dropped by 3ftlb,I then dropped a smaller spring and now wont fire again with no adjustment left.its really consistent with a variation o.3, but too hot,Any ideas
Ok....
How are the Belleville Washer arranged on the Reg?
Are they something Like --((())), or --()()()
The latter allow for lower Pressures...
But if in Doubt PM KevG,
It easier to diagnosis when you are located on the same side of the Pond!!
Sort of hard trying look at your Rapid When I am over in California,USA....
Good Luck,
Stuart
Without knowing what pressure the reg is set to you're gonna have to keep backing off until you get a definite drop.
Problem would be getting there and the stack being loose.
If its a high pressure reg ..... 65-90 bar might not be possible.
for example the stack arrangement
(( )) (( )) HP
()()()() LP
Pictures would help.
Can't think why it won't fire on a shorter spring unless so short it won't compress, ideal sub-12 spring length is 55-60mm.
......how long is the hammer pip?
should be 15mm-17mm,
Shorter will hit the valve harder irrespective of spring preload.
Here is the Regulator, looking at your discreption I'd say High power.i cant back of the nut anymore as it'll fall of.
What next?
New Reg?
Can the washers be set up for low power?
New to regulators as have 2 old mk1's.
Cheers for putting up with me,
Your Reg is setup for Hi-Power...
So back off the locknut until it is off
You need to setup the Belleville Washer as stated above...
()()()()...You may need to stack them up to make up room....
.....))()()()()(((
Good Luck,
Stuart
Here a bit of info from KevG from an old Post.....

its a hard one to judge as regs can differ.even on like to like theobens..normally around 14 to 16 bellevilles.
()()()()()()()() or (())(())(())(())..with nut and belleville washers removed you need around 0.5 to 1.5mm travel on core..if reg is set to low you can still get your power but shot count and accuracy will suffer.to high a pressure and it will run ok but when bottle pressure drops lower than what the reg is set at power will go over limit.

Ok,I'll set up in different configurations and check on chrono. But now reg blowing through the small breather/external hole.how do I sort this?
Cheers
If you are getting air blowing the equalization hole... means air is blowing by O-rings..
So you need to unscrew the core.
Check the condition of the O-rings, replace if necessary..
Also clean mating surfaces of any debris.
Reassemble, apply a thin film of Molykote 33 on the O-rings!!

that's rather unfortunate, let down by 10p o-rings. :(
maybe you have a universal o-ring service kit for your mk1s - sometimes a full kit includes the mk2s reg o-rings.
BTW don't let the core rotate whilst adjusting as that can damage the sealing face of the core. Doesn't take much.
Have you checked the hammer pip length?
If you still have a long way to go and the guns been 'well tinkered' it might need more than the reg resetting.
Hi, what size seals do I need to change on the Regulator shaft.it's leaking through the breather hole on the bottom of the reg.
Well if air is leaking out the Equalization port..
It can be either the large and/or small O-ring.
The common size for them is
small O-ring: BS005
large O-ring: BS803
Stuart
Ok cheers, just ordered 5 of each, hopefully she will be back alive by next weekend. Then need to reset the reg only.
