Post by: Mickyd on October 01, 2021, 02:03:57 PM
Hi, just went to my rapid and it was low on air.I topped it up ,took stock off and it's leaking from the little hole on the cocking side. The hole is just below mag slightly  forward, any ideas thanks. Md

That small hole is where Index/securing grub screw for the Valve-body is located.
So it sounds like the large seal on the valve-body need to be replaced.
Don't forget to clean the groove, and seating area in the receiver of dried lube!!

Good Luck,
Stuart

You can buy a set of seals from eblag, I recommend the A1tackleshop set, as they come with a shadow guide for you to correctly ID each seal.

They're also good quality sets, which cannot be said for some.

Check the tech section for service guides.

Well got my seal kit today, part of the seal on valve body was gone happy days I thought. I put it back together and it's still leaking from the little hole. Md

So it is Still leaking from the indexing hole on the side.....
If you installed new O-rings, did you clean the slot where the O-ring resides.
Also the seating area in the Receiver...
BTW, did you lube the new O-rings?... help them seat and seal...

Also is this older MK I with the Original  metal Valve-body??

Thanks Stuart, I cleaned everything and put some  molykote on. When I saw the split oring  I thought that's it but was wrong, I'll have another go and if that  fails and wait till kevs  back to normal. Md

Make sure everything is spotlessly clean. Just a hair on a seal will cause a leak. 👍

Is the Valve-body not pitted, I would replace the main Valve-body & seals plus check the valve stems not bent or replace that just to be sure plus seals,

Normally when air come`s out of the barrel its the Valve-body or stem bent or both that need seals replacing.

Strip it again because now you`ve done it why not do it again...and lets find out why this rapid is leaking,..be interesting to see why don`t you all agree.

That's right, you've done the hardest part and stripped it yourself. Keep at it and find the problem. There's not a lot to go wrong in there. 👍

If new o-rings haven't fixed the leak then its time for a new valve.
Best not to try matching new and old just replace the whole thing.

...and put some PTFE tape on the indexing grudb screw or it will puff air on every shot.

Been watching this thread. I have the same problem. Is there anyway to remove the valve from the front instead of stripping the action out from the back?  Sorry MD didn`t  mean to hijack your thread. Ken.

The valve comes out the front, (barrel end)
Remove exhaust valve grub screw on the side. Cock the bolt, fire it into a rag and the valve should drop out. 👍
