Title: Fast flow valve
Post by: etiam viviens on September 05, 2021, 08:47:26 PM
I have two rapids without a regulator.
One has an power valve but I do not know if it has an fast flow adaptor.

Is there a way you can tell without removing the adaptor but looking from the buddy bottle side.

Believe you have a Raw bottle holder/QF...do the bottles have valves??

If they are not regulated then they are fast-flow, same thing non-reg/fast-flow

the fast-flow push pin disc will have holes in it pic 1
the regulator disk will have two dimples no holes and the inlet (reg) body will have a small hole that allows the reg-core to move pic 2

Yes, how many hole's there are to let the air through the brass bottle pin.
std =1 centre hole, FF = 6 holes around a solid centre. RAW FF = 2 holes & 2 wide slots

Sorry it's a bad photo

Thanks for the quick answer, both my rapids have the 6 holes so a fast flow adaptor.

also with a reg you have a atmospheric bleed hole on the reg body.were as fast flow does not

If I wanted to place an Lane regulator mk10  between the bottle and the adaptor would there be an advantage or disadvantage in regards to FF flow or other adaptor.

will get rid of power curve but you would need to check your firing valve body to check the front port size.they should be 6mm on a reged set up,sometimes fast flow sets ups can be smaller 5 mm to 5.5mm

its going to send your bottle way forward though doing it that way

I know it is going to send the bottle way forward butt that is acceptable.
at the moment I have a RAW power valve installed so I assume this will give some extra air.
It is an .25 that does about 75 joule after filling the bottle 200bar.

I am hoping that a regulated pressure of 155 bar will give me a good 24 shots with .25 grain JSB  at 285 m/sec and 67 joule.

Next upgrade will be an carbon 500cc bottle

one gain...
as the reg is separate from the fast-flow inlet there will be a little extra volume in the lower plenum.
then.. if you remove the QF and use a standard fast-flow you could also fit a  pre-chamber extension?

Or you could go for a Huma reg which may fit your  RAW Theoben / HM type QF

I have no Quickfill this is also a reason why I consider an Lane MK10 Regulator.
the bottles have valves, I do have an hole in the stock for an quick-fill but do not have one.

I am more interested in a constant speed and not in power, I am happy with the around 65 joule.

The lane comes with an plenum in different sizes would a pre chamber extension help a lot?

My error, two guns with different specs?
increasing the plenum size gives more volume to play with.
benefits ;
the gun isn't emptied on each shot and stops the gun from running off an open reg.
The HM-X for example is a long block - which is essentially what you're trying to reproduce by increasing volume.

it lowers the recharge pressure drop, same amount of air used but from a larger reservoir.
The reg isn't subjected to longer cycling and recharge time is reduced.
Aids consistency.
