Originally did these for the RAW TM1000 for some of the competition shooters.got some good feed back so started doing them in the rapids.

yes stuart m8,just uses two standard inertia weight springs,a inner and outer,played with different material and found brass with a stainless front pip is best,if all stainless you can get a slight ping and if all brass the front will mushroom over time.

Dont know about genius more trial and error.also awkward making them for guns you dont have to hand as some hammers (even on same models) can be ever so slightly different as regards to inner diameter and step depth were the weight sits.

got one in my MK2 great bit of kit, shot count up, action quieter, and very consistent.
Got one in my gsx200 as it originally had two hammer springs and a nasty finished off inertia weight from standard. The smoothness and quietness of the action was so impressive I ordered another for my mk1 rapid with equally impressive results especially muzzle report more of a crisp pop than the flatulent sound it made before.
All sounds very interesting, will have to look at getting it done. Md
I havent tested mine over the chrono yet but I have fired a few pellets through the vendetta with the double tap fitted and the action feels slicker and the firing cycle does feel better with a short sharp pop - as mentioned above - I will be fitting a 500cc carbon bottle soon ..... think I will need to get a load of pellets bought !👍

Work well in both my HMs and TMs , also the air lasts a bit longer , more efficient at pulling the hammer off the exhaust valve and when you get the hammer adjusted with a bit of trial and error you can find a sweet spot that improves down range accuracy.

I just couldn't get this project out of my Brain!!!
So I spent some major time working on my Prototype of your Double Tap Inertia Weight!!
So first off, the springs I use are crush resistant conical springs... Never had one turn to dust
Next, yes I am using that dreaded Double Hammer Spring setup.
So that means I had to turn down the Brass double tap weight more than your version.

That small metal hat with a spring, this is the second anti-rattle spring that goes in between the steel and brass inertia weights.
Also it acts as an internal the striker for the steel inertia weight, inside the brass Inertia Weight!
Notice the Steel Inertia Weight. Rather than turning down the end of the steel weight to fit the into the spring and act like a striker.
I flip the conical spring over, so the small end will slip over the Pip's tail inside the Hammer .
Then turned down the outer diameter of inertia weight for conical spring clearance !
This would give a little more mass for the Steel Inertia Weight.
Next up is inflating the Ul_Ti_Mate Rapid and give her a full test....

the inner weight is 28mm long and 6mm diameter.the bore it runs in is 6.2 mm.with a thread of m7 0.75.

Looks very nice Kev. Are they easy to setup, say if I wanted to drop power one night for barn shooting, can I decrease the hammer as normal without messing with your double tap.. Or do they need setting up?

After you posted your Photo of your internals of your Double Tap Inertia weight design...
I can't get it out of my mind!!!
I think about in the shower, when I eat.. I even dream about it!!
I had to do my own, using some exotic metal!
So I ordered up some Tungsten!
So the front striker and the internal weight are made out of Tungsten.
This stuff is Dense and little Hard....
Threading it on my little lathe was fun!!

Well here is the finished setup my version of your Fantastic Double Tap Inertia Weight!

I reduce the tail of the Brass body.. to allow the use of a spring guide...
I also cut machined a small boss on the rear of the Front Striker piece, to help with the alignment of the spring for the inner weight.
So to kick this off.... I also did a little video comparison..

I drop a hammer from about 3 ft, on to a aluminum plate on the concrete floor of my mini shop.
I compared:
1. Only the Hammmer
2. Hammer with Theoben's Inertia weight and spring
3. Hammer with my Double Tap Inertia weight without the internal weight.
4. Hammer with the Complete Double Tap Inertia Weight...
A real Eye Opener!!
I know this isn't the exact operating conditions the hammer deals with... But I don't have a spare Rapid block to mill a window into!!

Pardon my ignorance here but. I'm not understanding the function of a double tap. Can someone please explain what's going on here. Lots of great looking parts , just not getting what I'm looking at here. Is it like the slingshot hammer in a Daystate?
It all about eliminating Hammer-Bounce....
Hammer-bounce wastes air and affect efficiency..

Very interesting indeed. I'll have a good look in my supplies once I receive my rifle to see what I can fabricate. I was going to make a cobra valve for it, but this eliminates the extra hammer force needed to open the valve.
