Title: Arcflash Labs GR-1
Post by: Kernal on August 15, 2021, 02:42:55 PM
The gunpowered age is ending,

After Gunpowder

A handheld railgun, which uses electricity rather than gunpowder to propel ammunition, is being sold in the US for the first time.

Nope, sorry.

Rail guns have been around for donkeys years and they still are not on the market in any useable form.

Huge magnetic fields working on STEEL projectiles will limit them to smooth bore barrels only and no bullet twist, with all the resulting lack of accuracy.

Also, like battery powered electric cars, recharging will be a massive problem unless you carry, presumably, Lithium batteries along with steel "bullets".

Yes, the propulsive force is "silent" but assuming decent range is a desirable factor, supersonic speed and resultant sonic "boom" removes that benefit completely.

Having said all that, don't hold your breath wanting one as the morons we have in government will ban them pretty much instantly since the cretins will never want something around that could reasonably be made in your garage.

Oh, and on a trivial note, don't wear your prized Omega watch when you fire one as I doubt ANY watch will be anti-magnetic enough to withstand the field.
