A lot of people are not going to like it as it is based around large monitors.

That's the least of your problems.

It's been designed to run on only specific types of PC and Laptop and simply will NOT install on anything that's not pretty high end.

Check out the system requirements here;

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/whats-new/windows-11-requirements

Seriously, it's about time Microsoft got themselves into the real world and started producing OS's that are useable by all.

As long as my ancient trusty XP OS does what I need it to do, that's what I'll be using.

Had to happen W10 has had several major updates and loads of useless 'quality' updates.
Far far from impressed just means that for my use there's so much embedded into the OS that I can't totally disable or remove completely. Edge and Cortana to start with.

My laptop just about meets requirements but its HDMI'd to the tv, I only use it for streaming and surfing .
If I can delay W11 at least until W10 support ends that will be something but I have a feeling that Windows Updater  will override my choices by slowly strangling performance until I relent.

Well the puter i use is well up for the new windows 11 update, But if i was honest i`m getting a little sick of the chasing around regarding updating this and that,

So i may just switch to Linux and have done with the whole windows thing,  But thats just me thinking ahead once again!

So what you lot going to do stick with the upgrade or think about changing to something else.

Changing the OS is looking more and more interesting than continuing with windows.
Honestly quite tired of having software that I didn't ask for, don't want and can't remove being installed.

What alternatives are out there for operating systems? I know I could always go down the Apple route but that would mean a complete new system.

I'm afraid I'm old enough to remember DOS3.0 and I still have a Windows 3.1 hard drive kicking about somewhere.

My real problem is that most of my programs just won't run on Linux so I'll soldier on with XP 'till I'm absolutely forced onto a newer OS.

Few months early but WIN11, Bah Humbug!!!

I have been  working with Computer for Too Long!!!
I remember DOS 1.0......
I remember Being excited over Windows 1.0!!!!.... It install off of Floppy 3 disks...
Then Win 95!!  Still off of Floppies.. 11 disks...I still have the original install disks!

Win 11 is another Rabbit hole the MS is going to create...
Like Killing off Win 7!!
Coming out with a dead OS... Millennium
Very Sad!!!

I started with W95,  W98?,
I liked  XP and then W7 but somehow-optional updates 8 and 10 were automatically forced in on by Update.
Now if I ignore an update on W10 my laptop and desktop start to freeze up as the update service goes bonkers.

You have all those people that have sued MS over the years, to thank for that!!....
These IT Professionals( what a joke) who didn't/won't apply Important Security Updates...
These Security Updates were plugging holes in the OS..
That would make vulnerable to On-Line attacks....
So when their whole Server room would go off- line...
They blamed MS, and Sued them for the Stupidity of their own IT!!

Well Microsoft got tired of this....
So If you ignore Critical Updates.... And your Computer is Online...
Some network operations and the computer itself, will cease functioning until the update is applied!!!!

That is why my CNC Mill computer, Running on Win10 Pro (1903 Build)is never online(Internet) !!
It runs fine!

Thing is there's been 21 culminative updates  and two full OS 'quality' updates in the last 12 months.

Hi Squinty & Co.
you can turn off automatic updates COMPLETELY in the Control Panel.

No more hassle from Micrs**t.

I do this on autopilot (pun intended) any time I install an OS and verify it does what I want it to do.

Check out this URL;

https://www.windowscentral.com/how-stop-updates-installing-automatically-windows-10

I've done this on a couple of Win7 machines as well. Best move I've made.

Sandy.

Yes that is a very viable option for a knowledgeable User....
But this is Not feasible for the majority of my Business Clients..
They to have a fully protected System Online...
And I can't personally go to each of my client's business to install only selected updates!

joys of W10 home edition,
no option to disable just the 35 day pause
no ggpedit.msc and after installing enabler...w10 home wont let the snap-in configure

I have previously set update to manual via services /properties but it won't accept a disabled setting.
