Title: Selling magazines on feabay
Post by: Kernal on June 03, 2021, 06:17:35 AM
After contacting feabay about selling rotating magazines on their site they told me if the text below was added to the listing it would not breach any feabay selling laws.
This must be put into your listing or feabay will remove your add below, But how long this last`s "It will be very interesting" in the next coming years.

.20 .22 or .25 are 12 shot magazines and the .177 is 17 shot.
AT THE REQUEST OF E-BAY I CONFIRM THESE MAGAZINES ARE FOR USE WITH AIRGUN PELLETS ONLY AND  DOES NOT BREACH ANY E-BAY POLICY!

I had that footnote on for years and they still ruled against me.

They said a "magazine" that holds over 10 shots is classed as a component part of a firearm.

Depending on who review's your case and if English is their second language you are in the lap of the gods. When I get back from holiday I'll post their reply regarding their final ruling on my appeal.
Bob.

Your listing was removed: Firearms and accessories policy

Hello armstrong6304,
We had to remove your listing because it didn't follow our Firearms and accessories policy. Firearms are not allowed. Listings for allowed firearm parts and accessories must follow strict guidelines.
What activity didn't follow the policy

You listed a magazine for a firearm that holds more than 10 rounds and is therefore not permitted on our site.

Nine states and many cities and counties have laws banning the sale or ownership of high capacity magazines. In order to make sure that neither our sellers, nor our buyers, inadvertently break their local laws, we have decided not to allow magazines over 10 rounds in capacity. While we appreciate that you have chosen to utilize our site, we must ask that you please not relist in this case.

What you need to do next
You can't relist items we've ended. Please ensure your current and future listings follow this policy.

What is the policy
The following are not allowed:

- Firearms of any type
- Parts and accessories for assault weapons, including blueprints and instructions
- Any part or accessory in violation of local law
- Firearm receivers, even if incomplete
- Ammunition for firearms, including bullets, cartridges, casings, shells, and hulls
- The following firearm accessories are not allowed:
-- Gun parts, including, but not limited to: barrels, firing pins, trigger assemblies, and magazines.
Listings for firearm accessories that we allow, such as grips, holsters and scopes must follow these guidelines:

- The listing must clearly identify the part or accessory being sold as well as the type of firearm it fits ("type" can mean general use and not necessarily brand or manufacturer.) For example, "This part can be used with bolt-action rifles."
- The listing cannot show a picture of an actual firearm
How this affects your account
Because you may not have been aware of this policy, we're sending this notice to educate you about it and ask that you follow this policy in the future.

- Listings that didn't follow this policy have been ended.
- We have credited all associated fees except for payments processing fees and the final value fee for your listing(s).

Listings that don't follow this policy in the future will be ended.

Why we have this policy
We take our role in community safety seriously, and in accordance with government regulations and international laws, we prohibit the sale of certain weapons on eBay.

Hi guys,
interesting topic.

As eBay seems to think it should "Police" the world, it's becoming more and more difficult to use.

About July last year, I bought a 3D printed magazine for my MFR from SMW Engineering on eBay.

This was an 18 shot high capacity item and obviously, at that time there was no problem listing it.

I just had another look on eBay and no magazines over 10 shot listed.

Possible work arounds;
A good while back, eBay automatically started to "censor" messages including web and personal email addresses so my work around for that was to write down my details in a text editor, and take a screenshot. Then I would simply attach the image to any message that needed details. Never had a problem since then.

For the magazine issue, basically NOT giving all the details is the way to go. Couch the description simply as Rapid magazine for sale and ask the potential buyer to message you making it clear they should NOT ask for a specific magazine capacity in their message.

As above, produce an image of details and get the buyer to P.M. you..

Deal can then be done outwith eBay interference.

I suppose it really depends on how much eBay deals are worth to you to take the chance.

Sandy.

Very strange.
After I posted my comment Re. Dr Bob's "pellet dispensers" (26/07/2021), I checked on eBay and found his listing no probs.

However, checking yesterday and today, there is absolutely no sign of the listing???

Has eBay pulled it, or is it as simple as Dr Bob has run out?
