Title: Rabbits
Post by: Budder on May 14, 2021, 06:34:06 PM
Took my .20 MFR to work with me today. People we are working for have some land and kept asking me to have a go at the rabbits. First proper trip out using the .20, after Kev G gave it his magic touch. Picked 12 but there was more that couldn't be retrieved. Plenty left to go at too.

That`s what I call a good session with a Rapid. Not seen many in my neck of the woods lately. Nice to know somebody is getting a few. Makes me hope that a few might breed up this year on my bit, if only the locals will leave them alone.

It's quite sad the way all the bunnies have disappeared. We had two babies venturing into the garden a few weeks back, the first I have seen in years. Not seen sight not sound of them since. We have a lot of large birds of prey here and I can't help but wonder if they and or foxes are keeping the numbers right down. I know there have been new diseases affecting numbers nationally. Growing up there were millions of them about. Not these days.

Where abouts in the country are you? I have a few permissions and all seem to have plenty of rabbits. Spoke to a friend the other day who does a lot of shooting, he said he's never seen as many about. We must be very lucky in North Yorkshire.

I'm on the Isle of Wight, there are spots where I see a few about but nothing like it used to be. I remember friends of my dad's would go out and get over 100 a night with long nets
