Title: Sound mod
Post by: Chris4658 on March 18, 2021, 04:53:12 PM
What mods are you Fac guys running? I have the standard one on mine which slips over the barrel and is held by a grub screw. I've heard newer pcp's firing and they are really quiet! These were sub 12's mind, but was wondering if there have been any major improvements in sound moderation that would quieten down mine, there's not a huge difference between the rapid and my .22lr.
Ideally another slip on, but could thread barrel if it's really worth it. Would need to be a fair improvement to warrant the one for one variation on ticket. Cheers, Chris

On your side of the Pond..
Where moderator are not frowned upon....
They are multitudes of possibilities.
But over IN the US, it is another story..

On my Ul_Ti_Mate Rapid (titanium) I use a shroud.
So @ 70 fpe it is quiet to my standards....

I use K-baffles that I made on my Lathe..

Just make sure you are shooting below 1125 fps(speed of sound)
If you push it pass this point, it will sound like a .22 rimmy!!!

Well it has many hands in making My Ul_Ti_Mate Rapid.
Before I got into machining, getting a lathe and Cnc Mill......
Chip Smith(Ti. Action and Chassis), Swift(early machining on my barrel and Shroud)
and Gordy Dawson(Benchrest Trigger).

But most of the small parts has been made or tune by me!
