I don't know about when I was young I still make my own nets on the mesh stick and still ferret throughout the year.

Regards kev.

PS hemp is the way forward when making your nets as you only have to use single knot as when you use nylon or dacron or butchers string you need to double knot.

Got to agree about hemp nets Kev, must have made a couple of thousand in the past. I think what puts people off hemp is that they rot if not dried properly. Still got a few ferrets but my legs are a bit too old to be walking the hills these days. Recently met a young man who is into ferreting, taught him how to make nets. Fixed him up with needle, mesh stick, string ,rings and cord. Untill lockdown he used to drop me two rabbits off every couple of weeks. ATB mate Ken.

Hi Kennyboy.
When I make my hemp nets I dip them into hot melted wax in a pan and soak them well it also help when putting them over the sets.
