Title: One for the G - Reg Question MFR
Post by: rgc_swanseaARC on November 17, 2020, 10:09:05 AM
Hi Kev,

I was given an MFR to sort for a good friend.  Leaking as soon as you put the bottle on.
There were a few issues, Probe maxed out, all the regulator o rings were flat, bottle o ring was cracked and someone had also put an o ring on the bottle neck which it obviously didn't need.

Sorted all of those, gave it a service and a polish and it holds air and fires perfectly.

I did notice the hammer spring was very long and too hard for sub 12 so i replaced it with one of my standard ones and again its working well.

The only slight niggle in my mind is i wonder if someone has been fiddling with the reg to up the power.  I don't have a reg tester to hand, so i wondered if you/someone else could give me the correct stacking sequence and how many spring washers i should expect to find on the reg core?  That way i can at least visually check that it seems ok.

Its a .22, sub 12

Kind Regards,
Rhys

its a hard one to judge as regs can differ.even on like to like theobens..normally around 14 to 16 bellevilles.
()()()()()()()() or (())(())(())(())..with nut and belleville washers removed you need around 0.5 to 1.5mm travel on core..if reg is set to low you can still get your power but shot count and accuracy will suffer.to high a pressure and it will run ok but when bottle pressure drops lower than what the reg is set at power will go over limit.

Thanks Kev,

I will have a look and pop it through the chrono.
If it looks suspect i might send it your way if thats ok.

To me it just looks like someone has lobbed a bigger spring in and tried to stop a leak which was actually caused by the reg by winding the inner probe right in.

Will see what its power is like and go from there.

Best way with out a tester is to check over chrono at different bottle pressures
